Phillip B. Wilson of the Indianapolis Star has a tough job without question.  From his criticism of both Polian and Caldwell to fan reactions to his work, it's not been a pleasant year as he clearly points out in his blog today.

On Polian:

The man didn’t answer one question from the local media this season until I caused a fuss last week. Yet on a weekly basis he didn’t have a problem going on national radio or talking to the national writers, providing rather intimate details of such noteworthy topics as Peyton Manning’s workout, while shutting us out. That’s wrong. If it matters to fans, it matters to me. If I was a prayerful soul, trust me, I would ask God to provide me with a world in which what Polian does on a daily basis ceases to matter to so many.

On Caldwell:

He didn’t make it better, but I can’t blame him for everything. That said, I’m on record as saying the Colts need a new coach, and it goes beyond the fact that this one rarely shares anything remotely important in his podium interviews for fear of ticking off Polian. Such is the world we live in. It’s not fun. I can’t imagine what it’s like for Caldwell.

On the fans:

I’ve been much less tolerant of the people who are hurtful and expressing themselves with malicious intent, be it on Twitter or Facebook (that’s why the block button exists). Life is too short. But, again, I hope the distinction is clear. There’s a way to disagree and debate opinions and the facts.
