There has been a ton of talk about how well teams did in this years draft. I've decided to grade two teams, one AFC and one NFC. The AFC team will be covered next article. The NFC team I decided upon was none other than the Philadelphia Eagles. Eagles selected Fletcher Cox, DT, Mississippi St, 12th overall (from Seahawks) This was one of the best picks of the first round. Cox is a big, fast, and athletic DT. I saw Cox going top 10 definitely, needless to say, I was wrong. Cox is arguably the best all around defensive player in the draft. All this, plus the fact that the Eagles needed help defending against the run makes this pick a great one. Grade for this pick - A Eagles selected Mychal Kendricks, LB, California, 46th overall This pick is another standout pick. While Kendricks is a bit undersized at 5'11, he has the athleticism to be a premier pass rusher if the Eagles put Kendricks on the outside. However, Kendricks is a formidable run stop LB too. Kendricks shou...

Eagles draft QB Foles: Trade bait or Vick’s replacement?

With the 88th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles selected Nick Foles, quarterback out of Arizona.  For some this came as a surprise.  Why would the Eagles take a QB in the third round?  They already have Michael Vick and a capable backup in Mike Kafka?  Was Foles taken as future trade bait or

Philadelphia Eagles 2012 Offseason: I’m Picking Up Good Vibrations

The Philadelphia Eagles’ 2012 offseason has been tremendous so far.  Between how they handled free agency and the NFL draft, this could turn out to be the most productive offseason since 2004 when they finally added key components (Terrell Owens and Jevon Kearse) to get the team over the NFC Championship game hump. To paraphrase the Beach Boys here: I’m picking up good vibrations...

Follow the Newest Members of the Philadelphia Eagles on Twitter

One of the first things I do upon learning of each draft pick by the Eagles is to find them on Twitter and add them to my “Eagles Team” list. Loving both football and Twitter comes in quite handy sometimes. The social media component may not be the first thought for everyone, so for those who are catching up, I’m going to make it very easy for you. Below is a list of the Twitter...

Andy Reid admits the Eagles overplayed LeSean McCoy

In an interview with the Philadelphia media, Eagles head coach Andy Reid was asked about the state of their running backs and interestingly enough he admitted they overplayed LeSean McCoy. “We’ll see how it goes. We’re good with young guys and we’ll see how that works out. With Dion (Lewis), I would have liked to have gotten him a little more time last year as we went on...

Nick Foles Lands in Philadelphia

The Philadelphia Eagles selected quarterback Nick Foles in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Fantasy Spin: Now Vince Young seems less likely to re-sign as a free agent. Foles has a strong arm and throws an accurate deep ball, but needs work on his pocket presence and toughness. He projects as a quality backup in the NFL, and definitely in Philly while Michael Vick is upright.

NFL Draft 2012: Philadelphia Eagles Day 2 Draft Pick Reviews

The Philadelphia Eagles are having an outstanding 2012 NFL draft.  On Day 1, they made a great move by jumping up three slots to snatch DT Fletcher Cox.  On Day 2, the Eagles followed up with two good picks and a nice trade. Notice I said two good picks?  But, didn’t they take three players?  Yes, they took three players, I’m just not thrilled with the Eagles’ third-round...

Philadelphia Eagles Get Back to Basics in 2012 Draft

The 2012 NFL Draft is over and done with and Eagles fans can finally exhale and say something we haven’t been able to say in quite a while: “That was a good draft.” Here is a recap of the picks: 1  (12th overall): DT Fletcher Cox – 6-4, 298 – Mississippi State 2 (46th overall) : LB Mychal Kendricks – 5-11, 240 – Cal 2 (59th overall) : DE Vinny Curry – 6-3, 266 ...

Philadelphia Eagles Add 13 Undrafted Free Agents

It was a busy week for the Philadelphia Eagles, to say the very least. After selecting 9 players via the NFL draft, which concluded on Saturday, the team assessed the field of undrafted talented and added 13 additional players to its roster on Sunday. The additions include a punter, long snapper, a tight end, a corner, a safety, two full backs, one running back, and five wideouts...

The Brian Dawkins Retirement Tour

The NFL career of former Eagles/Broncos safety Brian Dawkins came to an end nearly a week ago. Since hanging up his cleats and emotive screams, Dawkins has been busy. He retired as an Eagle on Saturday and held his farewell press conference with many ex-teammates in attendance including Donovan McNabb. Hours later, Dawkins threw out the first pitch prior to a Phillies 5-2 win over...
