The Philadelphia Eagles found a partner in the Denver Broncos willing to trade for Pro Bowl corner Asante Samuel, per NFL sources. But Denver’s low offer–a 5th or 6th round player or an unnamed player–wasn’t the straw that broke the camel’s back. Per the Inquirer’s Jeff MacLane, the deal fell through because the Broncos and Samuel couldn’t come to terms: While Samuel has agreed to restructure the remaining two years of his contract – he’s slated to earn $10 million this season and $11.5 million next season – he has yet to consent to some other requests by Denver, sources said. The Eagles reportedly hoped to receive a 3rd or 4th-round pick for Samuel, but with the draft just days away and Philadelphia’s interest in offloading Samuel known by every team in the league, the Birds have lost all bargaining power. The 31-year old Samuel has 45 career interceptions, 23 of those occurring during his 4 years with the Eagles. So what is the team to do? They have little choice but to sit back a...

Asante Samuel was almost a Denver Bronco according to report.

DENVER—A few weeks ago, the trade rumors in regards to Philadelphia Eagles corner Asante Samuel started to swirl like a pinwheel. With the team having two other top flights CB’s on their roster in Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Samuel feeling displaced thanks to these acquisitions last year, the obvious conclusion was being overstated. Today it surfaced...

Asante Samuel coming back to the Patriots?

If Deion Branch and Josh McDaniels can come back into the fold, there’s no reason Asante Samuel can’t do the same. This year’s Wes Welker franchise tag situation is similar to how it played out when the New England Patriots slapped the tag on Branch and Samuel in the past. If Welker, wants to hold out, and leave- fine. He’ll soon see the grass was greener where he was. Cornerback...
