The Philadelphia Eagles have finalized a contract with the 12th-overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, Fletcher Cox. The terms of the agreement were not released, but it is expected to be worth just over $10.2 million, all guaranteed. Cox praised the new collective bargaining agreement for ensuring that rookies sign with teams much more quickly. With the signing of Cox, the Eagles are the 11th NFL team to sign all the members of its 2012 Draft Class.
The Eagles also filled out their 90-man roster by claiming defensive end Monte Taylor off waiver from the Seattle Seahawks. Taylor signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent after the 2012 Draft. He is 6’5”, 266-pounds and recorded five sacks in 24 games as a Cincinnati Bearcat. There is a good chance that Taylor won’t make the 53-man roster before Week 1. He has stiff competition at the position with two Pro Bowl players, Trent Cole and Jason Babin. He will also be competing with second-round pick Vinny Curry, former first-round pick Brandon Graham, Phillip Hunt, and Darryl Tapp. The Eagles, however, look to have some nice trade pieces (if opportunity arises) at the defensive end position.
