The 2012 NFL season is practically here.  The New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys kick the season off this Wednesday night.  The Philadelphia Eagles will get their season underway in Cleveland at 1:00 pm EST this Sunday.  The Eagles held practice today indoors to stay out of the rain.  They will get the day off tomorrow and get back to work on Wednesday preparing for the Browns.  As the game approaches we'll review the matchups and intricacies of the Browns game.  Taking a look past the Browns and to the rest of the season, this is how the Eagles will likely fare.

Week 1 @ Cleveland Browns.  Win.  Eagles should win this one easily.  Cleveland looks like a mess and is starting a rookie quarterback.

Week 2 vs Baltimore Ravens.  Loss.  This will be a physical matchup and a tough test for the Eagles run defense.  Baltimore will control the line of scrimmage and win the game.

Week 3 @ Arizona Cardinals.  Win.  The Eagles will travel out to the west coast to play the Cards.  The Cardinals have issues on offense and the Eagles will be able to win this one late due to turnovers.

Week 4 vs NY Giants.  Loss.  The Super Bowl champion Giants are a handful with their offensive weapons and fearsome pass rush.  The Giants will pressure Vick all night and hopefully he can escape without injury.  The Eagles will lose this one close after their cross country trip the week before.

Week 5 @ Pittsburgh Steelers.  Win.  The Eagles will be playing with a passion against their instate rivals.  The Eagles passing attack will present problems for the Steelers secondary.  Big Ben Roethlisberger will have to do too much in this game and the Eagles secondary will make some plays.

Week 6 vs Detroit Lions.  Win.  The Lions are flashy with Calvin Johnson, Matt Stafford, and a mean defense, but they are also undisciplined.  The Eagles are better coached and will protect their home turf in this one.

Week 7 Bye.  Comes at a good time for the Eagles.  Rest the injured players and gameplan for the Falcons.  Andy Reid is well known for his after bye week prowess.

Week 8 vs Atlanta Falcons.  Win.  This game will be a shootout.  The Falcons boast a high powered offense, but a lackluster defense.  Michael Turner will run wild in this one, opening up things for Roddy White and Julio Jones.  The Eagles offense will score at will against the Falcons defense and prove to be too much at home.

Week 9 @ New Orleans Saints.  Loss.  The Saints will have back their interim head coach Joe Vitt for this game.  The momentum from the crowd, coach Joe Vitt returning, and Drew Brees will be too much in this one.

Week 10 vs Dallas Cowboys.  Win.  The Eagles will bounce back in this game against their bitter rivals.  The Cowboys are one of the most up and down teams in the NFL today, expect them to come out slow in Philadelphia.

Week 11@ Washington Redskins.  Loss.  Robert Griffin III will catch the Eagles in a trap game.  The mobile quarterback can break down defenses.  Division opponents usually play close games and it is in Washington.

Week 12 vs Carolina Panthers.  Win.  Cam Newton will keep it close for a little while, but expect the second year man to make some mistakes against the Eagles wide 9 pass rush.

Week 13 @ Dallas Cowboys.  Win.  The Cowboys playoffs hopes will likely be crushed in this game.  The Eagles will begin to hit their postseason stride here as the Cowboys secondary will have problems sticking with the likes of Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson.

Week 14 @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Win.  This game should not be a contest for a talented playoff team like the Eagles.

Week 15 vs Cincinnati Bengals.  Loss.  The Bengals will be fighting for their playoff lives in this one and will catch the Eagles over confident at home.  The Bengals have the defense to contain the birds.  Will Andy Dalton be able to muster enough offense to take advantage? Yes.

Week 16 vs Washington Redskins.  Win.  After losing the first time to RG3, the Eagles will be focused to beat the Redskins in this one.  Blowout victory.

Week 17 @ New York Giants.  Win.  The Eagles did not forget the loss earlier this season to the G-Men.  The defense will make Eli Manning have one of his awful games turning the ball over.  The Eagles close the season on a two game win streak heading into the playoffs strong.

Prediction 11-5

Philadelphia Eagles Final Roster Analysis

Quarterbacks Michael Vick was obviously on the team, so was 3rd round pick Nick Foles, even if he hadn’t stepped up in Mike Kafka’s absence and nailed down the #2 quarterback job, despite the team viewing him as a developmental 3rd quarterback at the start of the offseason. Kafka went from primary backup to injured to 3rd string and when he returned, he found that Trent Edwards...
