DT Mike Patterson will be out for Sunday’s Philadelphia Eagles game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as he was hospitalized on Thursday. Team officials believe that Patterson has viral pneumonia. They do not think that this is related to his brain surgery earlier this year, which caused him to miss the first seven games of the season. Per Comcast Sportsnet, although head trainer Rick Burkholder said the sickness isn’t severe or debilitating or even related to the brain surgery, Patterson is slated to undergo more tests that could potentially reveal another diagnosis. As an interesting aside, Patterson and DE Trent Cole are the only members of the defensive line to have previous experience under defensive line coach Tommy Brasher. In other injuries, Mike Vick and LeSean McCoy both remain in the fourth of five stages of recovery from their concussions. We know that Vick’s season is done, and that may well be the case for Shady also, even if he returns to health before the end of the s...

The Philadelphia Eagles have had a tough 2012, losing starting quarterback Michael Vick and their last eight games. But on Sunday, there was a bright spot. Eagles DT Mike Patterson Hospitalized With Pneumonia

Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Eagles DT Mike Patterson has been diagnosed with viral pneumonia and has been hospitalized. Jason Avant Stands Out vs. Buccaneers

Eagles receiver Jason Avant had a season-high 133 yards on seven receptions Sunday against the Buccaneers.Fantasy Spin:Avant was targeted 12 times, also a season-high. He's been thrown to 17 times over the past two weeks. Nice to report a last-second come-from-behind victory for the Eagles...losing eight in a row was starting to wear on me...not to mention the players themselves. I'm still not sure this road win was a turning point as far as the 2013 season is concerned... but it sure made 2012 a whole lot more digestible.         Jason Avant, the 7th-year WR...
