The Philadelphia Eagles had gained over 400 yards in their first 6 games of the season. On Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys held the dynamic Eagles offense to under 300 yards in their 17-3 victory.
Without Demarcus Ware, the Cowboys were still able to keep constant pressure on the Eagles’ quarterback. Nick Foles would eventually leave the game with both a foot and head injury. However, the injury may have been a blessing in disguise, given that Foles was not doing anything that would earn himself the starting quarterback position.
Former USC quarterback, Matt Barkley, made his NFL debut following Foles’ departure. He would display his lack of experience by throwing three interceptions in the fourth quarter alone.
Quarterback was not the only position that experienced struggles on the Eagles offense. The offensive line continued to demonstrate more inconsistency. Following a game against a solid Tampa Bay defense, in which the Bucs’ defensive line was held in check, the injury riddled Cowboys’ defensive line was able put numerous hits on both Foles’ and Barkley.
Now, the Eagles are thin at quarterback. The team is hopeful for Vick’s return to the field to come in week 8, but it is difficult to predict when an aggravated hamstring is going to be healed. Because of Vick’s absence, teams are not as worried about a quarterback scampering into the end zone when the Eagles are inside their opponents 20 yard line. Vick, although turnover-happy at times, brings an element to the game that is hard to come by. Not only does his speed allow him to flourish as a quarterback, but it also has an effect on the entire offense. LeSean McCoy is less of a priority for opposing defenses and receivers are allowed more time to get open when Vick is in at quarterback.
It does not help that the NFC East is beginning to pick up as well. The Redskins defeated the Chicago Bears in a high scoring bout on Sunday, and the Giants captured their first win of the season over the Vikings. The Eagles will face another division rival next Sunday, as we hit the halfway point in the season. The Eagles defeated the Giants 36-21 at MetLife Stadium back in week 5.
BEST OF MAXIM
Nick Foles and the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense played their worst game of the season in losing to the hated Cowboys, 17-3. They also extended their home losing streak to nine games, which is just as baffling as it is unacceptable.
Nine game home losing streak and three points scored against an average defense that was missing its best player…that’s the first thing that makes...
Nick Foles has a concussion and Michael Vick is still recovering from a hamstring injury, leaving the Philadelphia Eagles uncertain of a starting quarterback next week.
Foles was injured when he was sacked by George Selvie and Jarius Wynn on the final play of the third quarter in a 17-3 loss to Dallas on Sunday. Foles struggled against the Cowboys, completing just 11 of 29 for 80...
With Nick Foles suffering a concussion Sunday and Michael Vick's status still unknown, Chip Kelly has yet to name a starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Giants.
As if it wasn't apparent enough Sunday after Nick Foles left the game late in the third quarter with a head injury, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly revealed Monday that the quarterback...
In today's Eagles-Cowboys game, the woeful Eagles' defense clearly played their best game of the year. They kept up some good work against the run, got off the field on third down, achieved some success in rushing the passer, had a game-changing interception when the team needed it the most, and held an explosive offense to 17 points despite being put, time...
Sunday was Chip Kelly's lowest offensive output as a head coach. He and his offensive skill players did Nick Foles no favors amid the quarterback's worst performance as a professional.
Perhaps the most suprising and disappointing moments from Chip Kelly's first NFL sojourn as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles took place at Lincoln Financial Field Sunday.

Philadelphia sports fans like to overreact. We all know this. When anything in sports happens, there is instant and intense reaction from the fans of the city. Now that all the dust has settled from the Eagles 17-3 loss, it is fair to analyze the game.
In this case, the fans were right.
The Eagles lost Nick Foles to a concussion versus the Dallas Cowboys, but that was the least of the injuries in and around the NFL.
During Chip Kelly’s press conference, he noted that Foles was looking better, but his status was unknown for Sunday.

- Vinny Curry continues to see increased snaps
- If Michael Vick and Nick Foles cannot play, Matt Barkley will make...
After missing this past Sunday’s game with a strained hamstring, Michael Vick has been named starter for this Sunday’s contest against the New York Giants. In related news, the man who replaced Vick as starting QB, Nick Foles, had to leave Sunday’s game with a concussion. Foles will have to pass all concussion testing in order to return to the field, but it appears he will...
Sunday was not Nick Foles’ day. Photo via the Philadelphia Eagles.
Whatever Nick Foles had for breakfast on Sunday, he shouldn’t plan to have ever again on a game day.
In the absence of any other explanation for his awful performance at the Linc against the Cowboys, let’s just go ahead and blame it on the Wheaties. Foles wasn’t available following the game to discuss what...
Before the Philadelphia Eagles took the field at home Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys there was hoopla and a bright outlook as the possibilities seemed endless with Nick Foles at the helm of Chip Kelly’s offense.
Now that Foles chucked up a dud – and left the game early with a concussion – all eyes are peeled towards the Eagles’ injury report to see if Michael Vick (hamstring...
With Nick Foles having a concussion, it appears Michael Vick will get the start against the Giants this week. Michael Vick will start for the Eagles at quarterback on Sunday against the New York Giants, according to an NFL source. Vick missed the last two games with a hamstring strain he suffered against the Giants […]
The Dallas Cowboys went into the City of Brotherly Love and seized first place of the NFC East in a dominant win over the Eagles, 17-3.
Philly’s woes at home continue; the team has not won a game at the Linc since September 30th in 2012 (that’s a nine game losing streak for those of you counting at home). Monte Kiffin’s defense completely shut down the hurry-up Eagles, becoming...
Last week: 11 (+0)
I don’t know where that defensive effort came from. The Cowboys, who were getting destroyed defensively all season, gave up just 3 points to a previously pretty solid Philadelphia offense on the road, despite missing DeMarcus Ware. They forced the Eagles’ quarterback combination of Nick Foles and Matt Barkley to 22 of 49 for 194 yards and 3 picks...
Well, that was just ugly.
There have been times this season when the Eagles looked bad, but yesterdays loss to the Dallas Cowboys was pure ugly.
The offense had no consistency and Nick Foles looked out of place. Monte Kiffin’s defense made Chip Kelly look foolish, as the Eagles stuck their tail between their legs and took a butt-whipping.
Let’s get to the recap.
Season To Date: 13 – 8 Dallas Cowboys at Detroit Lions – The Cowboys may win the NFL East, but are still just an 8 or 9 win team. The Dallas defense made Nick Foles and Philly’s offense look bad last week. It will be different this week against Matthew Stafford, Calvin Johnson, Reggie Bush and company. Tony Romo will be able to make plays against a vulnerable...
