The Philadelphia Eagles (3-4) face another divisional opponent this week…the New York Giants (1-6) at home at 1 PM ET. The Eagles beat them earlier this season, but things have changed drastically since the week 5 matchup in Philly.  The quarterback situation in the last four years has been tormenting for Eagles fans. When Donovan McNabb left, he was replaced by Michael Vick. Vick is loved, Vick is hated. Vick gets injured. The bottom line: the Eagles should start backup quarterback Matt Barkley instead of Vick. The Eagles need Vick back. Vick is loved. It’s really all a cycle, but Philly needs to avoid the part of the cycle where Vick gets hurt this time around. This season the offense all together is not consistent and one of the key players in the inconsistency is the offensive line. Vick, even at his age of 33, is still the fastest running quarterback in the league and has the most powerful arm. While Vick’s rushing is a component of Chip Kelly’s new offense, sometimes Vick is running for his life from defenders because he’s trying to make a play. The wide receivers might be covered, but most of the time the offensive line is not standing up to defenses. In situations like this, your quarterback will get hurt. And so they did; both Vick (hamstring) and backup QB Nick Foles (concussion) suffered injuries. Earlier this week, Chip Kelly stated that he wouldn’t have Vick starting just because they are without Foles; that he wouldn’t risk his safety that way. But Vick is starting, so they won’t have to worry about putting Barkley in. Vick has been in practice for last three days and also completed a 100-yard dash to see if he was 100% and he did well, sources say. Now that Vick is back you won’t have to worry about seeing that horrid offense the Eagles put together against the Cowboys. The defense will also play better just because he’s back. Vick is the starting quarterback and has more impact on the team and has bonded with the team longer than any backup has. When you have an experienced veteran like that one the team who connects with everyone and it shows on their field of play, the team is better off all together and they win. So that ends all backup quarterbacks starting over Vick talk. All in all to say to about the Giants who came up with their first win of the season against the Minnesota Vikings, they’ll be put back in their place really soon.
