A month into training camp and excitement within the Eagles organization is at an all-time high, maybe it's because they finally know who they want leading their team? Here's the Eagles' Week 4 Training Camp Report:1. Eagles Sign Ex-Oregon Duck, WR Jeff Maehl While Chip Kelly did bring in another player he had a hand in coaching, I wouldn't expect Maehl to make the final 53-man roster. He's essentially a camp-body and unless he has a couple stellar performances in the last two games this August, he'll have a hard enough time making the practice squad.2. Forget The No. 2 WR, Eagles Will Rely On Slot ReceiversWhile Riley Cooper is still the favorite to win the No. 2 job in Philly, it's really only by default. Veteran Jason Avant will gladly reclaim his spot in the slot, and likely share reps with the sparkplug Damaris Johnson. In the first two preseason games, Cooper only notched three receptions for 46 yards. Avant alone pulled in seven receptions for 84 yards the last two weeks, clearly proving his worth to the team. Best way to put it -- Cooper is still on pace to have his best year yet, but I wouldn't want him on my fantasy team. Expect Avant to be one of the leading receivers on this team, possibly even reaching the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his seven-year career.3. Jason Peters Is 100 Percent Healthy; Or So We're ToldThe anchor the Eagles' offensive line has been missing the past year, Jason Peters, is set to start week one against the Redskins. He's was spotted before the preseason game against Carolina dressed in his gear and even warmed up with the team, but didn't play a down. He's hoping to play this coming week against Jacksonville, but the last thing the team would want to do is hurry this hefty lineman back on the field before he's comfortable doing so.4. Defense Finally Making ProgressAfter getting manhandled by Tom Brady and the Patriots, the Eagles finally turned it around in time to face Cam Newton and the Panthers. They held Newton to 8 of 17 attempts with 112 yards. The real progress came against the run, where the Eagles held DeAngelo Williams and Kenjon Barner to only 44 yards on 18 attempts. When defending the pass, the Eagles still had struggles but showed improvement from a week prior. Keep an eye on Bradley Fletcher, who is quickly breaking out as the team's most talented CB. 5. Michael Vick Is The Best Quarterback For Chip KellyAfter countless articles and threads in which I predicted Nick Foles to be the starter Week 1, it looks like Michael Vick will be the quarterback on this team. He not only has a better grasp of the system, he's clearly more comfortable in it as well. Against Carolina, Foles fumbled a couple snaps, and even threw a red-zone INT. He did get a rushing TD, but it's hard to forget those mistakes when in a battle for your job. Vick, who threw for over 100 yards, looked sharp despite throwing a meaningless interception in the last seconds of the half. Both quarterbacks could play in the system, but there is no longer a shadow being cast on this issue -- Michael Vick is hands down the best fit for Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles.Be sure to follow me on Twitter for all the Eagles and breaking NFL news you'll need! @PJbleedsgreen
