Philip Rivers and the Chargers agreed to a contract extension on Sunday:

Rivers and the Chargers agreed late Sunday on a six-year extension potentially worth slightly more than $92 million with about $50 million to be paid over the first three years.

"I certainly couldn't have asked that it could have gone any better than it did," said Rivers, who signed the largest contract in club history shortly before Monday's 4 p.m. practice. "I can't say enough how excited I am and how thankful I am that it's done, and (that) I'll be here for a long time."

Rivers led the NFL in yards per attempt in 2008 while also posting the 13th highest single-season passer rating of all time.

If there's a signature Philip Rivers play, it's probably the one at the 2:10 mark. Nothing about it is pretty, and you're not sure what the heck is going on until the receiver's got the ball in the end zone. Those awkward-looking something-out-of-nothing plays happened so often they almost felt routine, and anyone who watched Rivers at NC State can identify with how Kirk Herbstreit reacted once he realized what was happening.
