By Mike McDermottPhiladelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said after today's game that he didn't hear the occasional, thunderous chants of "Fire Andy" that rained from the stands in the second half of today's game at Lincoln Financial Field.
"You don't hear a lot down there on the sideline," Reid said. "I didn't hear it. The way we played I understand it."
But Reid's future is likely to remain the hottest of many hot topics surrounding the Eagles in Philadelphia after the team went to 4-7 following a pasting at the hands of the New England Patriots.
Cornerback Nate Allen insisted that the players stood behind their coach when asked about the chants.
"It's tough to hear that," Allen acknowledged.
"You can't really put it all on Andy," said quarterback Vince Young. "Us players still got to go out and play the games as well. I say that out of the utmost respect for Andy. We're going to alwa...

If the Eagles go to Seattle and are beaten by a bad Seahawks team it will increase the chances that Andy Reid will be fired. The embarrassing loss to the Patriots surely gave Jeffrey Lurie and Joe Banner more reasons to consider firing Reid. Lurie is from the Boston area. He considered purchasing the Patriots.
In this town, Andy Reid has always walked a thin line between hero and villian.
As a villain for most of this season, Reid frustrated fans with disappointing losses to inferior teams as the Eagles fell to 3-6. But just when fans thought the villain had finally met his demise, "Hero Reid" came through with a season saving win over the New York Giants. It renewed hope in...
I don't know if the Eagles are going to fire Andy Reid. They've suffered through 5-11 and 6-10 seasons with him before, and he survived those. Someone upstairs really believes in the guy.
But if, at the end of the season, they do choose to let him go, they should hire this young fellow as a consultant (like The Bobs in Office Space) to come in and clean house. Even if he...
"Fire Andy! Fire Andy!" Each demanding chant bellowed by fed-up Eagles fans was the most emphatic sign yet that the faithful have turned for good on coach Andy Reid. Reid, who led Philadelphia to five NFC championship games, has been booed and criticized, with calls to talk radio asking for him to resign or for management to can him. But never had they voiced their displeasure like this.
After the NFL lockout ended, the Philadelphia Eagles went to town and signed several free agents, which made them the talk of the NFL.
Among the signings was coveted cornerback, Nnamdi Asomugha.
You see, Eagles owner Jeff Lurie made available some cash for the free agents.
But after it was over (or before), the Eagles ran out of money and gave Head coach Andy Reid a sure...

The Eagles were hyped as a Super Bowl team before the season. Instead, they’re losers. And Philadelphia fans are taking out their frustration on head coach Andy Reid. As the Patriots throttle the Eagles today in Philadelphia, chants of “Fire Andy” have been heard at Lincoln Financial Field. There was a time when firing Reid…
Eagles head coach Andy Reid said that the injured QB will not practice Tuesday, making it highly unlikely he will play Thursday night against the Seahawks.
Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid said wide receiver DeSean Jackson will be in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Jackson was benched in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to New England after dropping his third pass of the game.
It has been a turbulent season for Jackson, who has been unhappy over the team's unwillingness to sign...
