It’s just Christmas morning today, or maybe even better, today NFL football is back! Opening day, a day filled with excitement around the league. A day where 31 teams are still hopeful their team can win the big game and become the next super bowl champion.
I of course say 31 because here in negative Miami most fans have the Dolphins as a 5-11 team or worse and hope is a hard thing to find. That being said there is still excitement over rookie Ryan Tannehill and the small glimmer of hope maybe this team will surprise us all and pull it together.
That being said today is the day where people start revealing their super bowl picks, so here at Phins Phocus we thought we would do the same.

Green Bay over Pittsburg
I went chalk with Green Bay taking the most popular team but I think Aaron Rogers is the best player in the NFL right now and has a sour taste in his mouth that will lead him back to glory and a 2nd Super bowl championship. Let’s not forge...

2012 should be an interesting season for the Miami Dolphins. Wins may be hard to come by with rookie Ryan Tannehill at quarterback and the team making a complete schematic change on both offense and defense. In 1996, Jimmy Johnson... Come here for the best Miami Dolphins blog on the web. We have all of the most up to date new and opinions on the Dolphins organization for its fans.
DAVIE, Fla. Five rookie quarterbacks are scheduled to start opening week games on Sunday: Andrew Luck (Indianapolis), Robert Griffin III (Washington), Ryan Tannehill (Miami), Brandon Weeden (Cleveland) and Russell Wilson (Seattle).
Its the first time thats happened in more than 40 years. Last year, only two rookie quarterbacks Carolinas Cam Newton and Cincinnatis Andy Dalton ...
MIRAMAR, Fla. Come Sunday afternoon, Ryan Tannehill already will have something on Dan Marino.
Tannehill will become the first Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback to start an opener. Marino didnt get the call until the sixth game of his rookie season in 1983, which actually didnt sit too well with him.
My expectations were to come in and start right away, Marino said on Tuesday...
This season, HBO’s “Hard Knocks” documentary series followed the Miami Dolphins. And while the Fins may not be loaded with the talent to make a playoff push during the 2012 season, the players will certainly be happy when they get home.
Yes, the women featured on the show proved they have the talent to go even further than their boyfriends or husbands. In fact, they may have...
There are a few things that might stand out from this years edition of Hard Knocks featuring the Miami Dolphins. Maybe it was Ryan Tannehill’s wife, or his phone number, but most likely it was Chad Johnson, even though he was off the team before we could all get used to him in teal. His [...]
MIAMI -- Quarterback David Garrard has been released by the Miami Dolphins, leaving Matt Moore as the veteran backup to rookie starter Ryan Tannehill. Garrard signed in March and climbed atop the depth chart in training camp before he was sidelined by a left knee injury that required arthroscopic surgery Aug. 11. In his absence, Tannehill claimed the starting job for Sunday's...
TGIF! It’s a football Friday and the first Dolphins game of the season is only 2 days away. Things are getting exciting as the Dolphins should have only one thing on their minds right now and that’s pulling off the huge upset against the Texans, although I wouldn’t hold my breath.
Yesterday I took a poll, and 20-13 voted they thought a Win is more important than a strong week...
While enduring three consecutive losing seasons, the Miami Dolphins have ranked last in the NFL in takeaways with 59.
Coincidence? They don't think so. New coach Joe Philbin says his team must start finding a way to win the turnover battle.
The Dolphins go into Sunday's opener at Houston lightly regarded because they're relying on rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill to...
The NFL season is upon us and we open with the first installment of Know Your Opponent where we will spend some time focusing on the Texans’ weekly adversary. This week, we get a few questions in with DolFans NYC and will touch on the Dolphins’ experience with Hard Knocks, first-year coach Joe Philbin, rookie QB Ryan Tannehill, plus a myriad of other players...
With the 2012 season fast approaching, expectations have never been higher for a Texans’ team. In fact, some “experts” are predicting not only a repeat AFC Championship but also a Super Bowl appearance. But, let’s not get carried away – they still have to play the games.
This Sunday the Texans will play host to the Miami Dolphins, who feature a rookie quarterback in...

If you’ve been following all of my picks, you’d know I love betting against rookie quarterbacks week 1. They tend to, predictably, struggle in their first NFL action. Since 1994, rookie quarterbacks have completed 55% of their passes, averaged 6 yards YPA, and thrown twice as many picks as touchdowns during...
According to Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post, quarterback David Garrard was back at practice for the Miami Dolphins on Monday. He’ll be rookie Ryan Tannehill’s back up this week and in the near future.
Oh, and David Garrard is practicing today. That’s significant

Garrard underwent arthroscopic knee surgery just a few...
Tuesday night is the season finale of the Miami Dolphins' stint on Hard Knocks. Looking back, first-year coach Joe Philbin doesn't lament the decision to feature the team on the HBO show that offers a behind-the curtain glimpse at life in the NFL.
"I don't have any regrets," Philbin told NFL.com's Albert Breer Sunday night. "I'm not sitting in...
Miami at Houston Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET, at Reliant Stadium, Houston - TV: CBS; DirecTV: 709 *TV announcers: Ian Eagle, Dan Fouts *Keys to the game: Houston is going to run the ball, set up the pass and put some points on the board. Question is, can Dolphins rookie QB Ryan Tannehill keep pace? Facing coordinator Wade Phillips' 3-4 defense is a challenge for the most veteran...
