1. Regular season or post season. It doesn’t matter. The Patriots keep on breaking records. QB Tom Brady became the first player to throw five touchdown passes in one half of playoff football. He also tied a post-season record with six touchdown passes in a game. Brady did this while throwing for 300 yards in a playoff game for the first time. To top it off, Brady executed a well placed 48-yard quick kick to Denver’s 10-yard line.2. With the win, Brady and head coach Bill Belichick became the winningest head coach-quarterback combo in NFL playoff history. They surpassed Pittsburgh coach Chuck Noll and QB Terry Bradshaw. Not that the record matters to Belichick and Brady. They are still behind the Steelers tandem in Super Bowl wins, four to three. Brady and Belichick still have work to do to be most successful tandem.Continue reading "Pick Six Divisionals"

Ravens will wait until Sunday to rough up Brady

The Baltimore Ravens' defense intends to spend much of Sunday afternoon harassing New England quarterback Tom Brady and burying him in the pocket. Until that time, the game plan evidently is to smother him with praise. Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs got into a shouting match with Brady in 2009 after the quarterback appeared to be demanding a penalty flag for a late hit. More...

It’s true. Let’s put it this way: Tom Brady’s piss > Joe Flacco.

Ravens-Patriots is ultimate culture clash

Ravens-Patriots -- Tom Brady vs. Ray Lewis -- is a cultural war of the highest order. It's offense vs. defense. It's the most valuable offensive player of the new millennium vs. the most valuable defensive player of the new millennium. It's Brady, Gronkowski and Welker vs. Sugar, Sizzle and Safety. It's rock 'n' roll vs. hip-hop. It's Bird vs. Magic...

Patriots Look to Avenge Ugly Loss to Baltimore in 2009-10 Wild Card Round

Tom Brady and Bill Belichick surely will have what transpired January 10, 2010 on their minds when they welcome the Ravens to town for the AFC Championship game. From the onset, Gillette Stadium’s eerily silent crowd could only watch with their collective mouths open. A week removed from Wes Welker’s knee blowout in the final regular season game in Houston, with questions...

Ouster Of Brees And Rodgers Looms Ominously For Brady

Congratulations, Tom Brady! You just knocked Tim Tebow out of the playoffs and saved us an additional week of soft focus Rick Reilly columns about how Tebow is a good quarterback but an even BETTER human being. That's the good news. The bad news is that you are the last man standing when it comes to elite QBs carrying lousy defenses. There were three teams in the divisional...

01/16 (Giants, Wow) Quickie

Hey, don't miss Quickish's NFL stream this morning, with some smart takes on yesterday's games. The Packers were a great story this season -- a mini-dynasty (or standard version) in the making. The Giants waltzing into Lambeau and throttling them is an even better story, the kind of you-kind-of-hope-it-will-happen-but-don't-expect-it-to-happen result that makes sports...
