Antonio Pierce, the Giants’ defensive leader, was “shocked” by the news he got from doctors this afternoon: That he will be be “out” of this Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons and will be sidelined indefinitely due to a bulging disc in his neck. That announcement was made a few minutes ago by the Giants, who said in a press release that Pierce had been experiencing some discomfort in practice this week. They indicated the discomfort was related to a burner he suffered against the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 25. Since he had been experiencing “very little discomfort” since then, according to the team, the medical staff sent him for an MRI. Pierce had the MRI at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan and was examined by Dr. Russell Warren, the Giants’ doctor, and Dr. Frank Camissa, the Chief of the Spinal Surgical Services at HSS.
