It's not far off to say the Pittsburgh Steelers had a tumultuous season filled with injuries, lack of depth, and discipline issues. The Steelers finished the season even at 8-8 and missed out on the playoffs for the first time since 2009. Pittsburgh will have to make some tough decisions heading into this offseason. Last year the team let go a slew of veterans who were taking up much needed salary. This year won't be too much different either. The Steelers have money tied up in key areas where they have veterans and not enough depth. The Steelers could have big decisions to make with likely departures of Mike Wallace, Rashard Mendenhall, Larry Foote, and Casey Hampton. This slideshow will provide five names that the Pittsburgh Steelers could be calling in the first round this year.

  • This is all speculation right now. It all depends on who the Steelers release and what they do in free agency. I like the pick for getting Manti Te'o because he seems to have that "it" factor. I think he would excel in the Steelers defense. The other position the Steelers have to focus on is the nose tackle. I would like to see Steve McClendon moved to either end to replace Hood or Heyward. I am speculating that Keisel will be released. The two guys that the Steelers should look at are Jesse Williams from Alabama and John Jenkins from Georgia.

The “Roethlisberger” Rules and Why You Should Appreciate Him More

The Steelers Could Find Their Next James Farrior from Inside the AFC North

In 2002 the New York Jets decided to let James Farrior walk in free agency. Farrior was drafted by the Jets in the first round of the 1997 draft, but was considered a just after five seasons with the team. The Steelers rarely go after free agents unless the player and price is right. They signed Farrior in 2002 and he was the team’s defensive leader for 10 seasons. Farrior led...

Some new quotes have emerged from the year-end talk that Pittsburgh Steelers team president Art Rooney II had with members of the Pittsburgh media last week concerning injuries suffered this past season and training. “I do think it’s something that comes in cycles,” said Rooney about injuries, per the Steelers official website. “I remember sitting there a few years ago and...

Is Bruce Arians A Threat To Poach Away Steelers RB Isaac Redman During Restricted Free Agency?

Several teams are now just a few weeks into their offseason and there are still a few head-coaching spots left to be filled in addition. One of the candidates for the few remaining open jobs around the league is Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, who of course was the offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers prior to being let go around this time last...

Kelvin Beachum Could be Steelers Left Guard In 2013 and Beyond

The Steelers are building a younger and more athletic offensive line in front of Ben Roethlisberger and the 2012 draft may account for three starters in 2013. First round pick David DeCastro is the Steelers right guard of the future and second round pick Mike Adams will start at tackle in 2013. Adams, who will be entering his second NFL season, will play left or right tackle in...

This is the third season in a row that Colon...

Not All Pittsburgh Steelers Fans Are Rooting Against the Ravens in the 2012 AFC Championship Game

This is an unpopular opinion that might cost me my seat at the cool-kids table among Pittsburgh Steelers fans. I want the Ravens to beat the Patriots Sunday. The Ravens and Patriots meet in the AFC Championship Game for the second year in a row. It’s the first time the same teams have met in the AFC title game for two straight seasons since the Browns and Broncos in 1986 and 1987...

There is still no word as to who the Arizona Cardinals will decide on to be their next head coach, but it is looking more and more likely that it won't be Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley, who reportedly interviewed with his former employer last week. Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports on Monday, that according to his sources, Haley gave...

Chris Rainey’s Girlfriend: No Assault Took Place

It might be two days too late, being that he’s released from jail, but the girlfriend of now former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Chris Rainey says no assault took place. If you’ve been out of the country, Rainey was arrested for allegedly slapping his girlfriend over his cell phone. There reportedly was an eyewitness who was able to vouch for those events. Cowher says he has no plans on coaching

Last week reports surfaced that former Pittsburgh Steelers coach and current CBS studio analyst, Bill Cowher, would eventually return to coaching. I guess that report was wrong. Today on the CBS NFL pregame show Cowher must’ve had a change of heart because he told host James Brown that he’s not going anywhere. “Coach, this week it was reported that you are looking to return...
