Found April 29, 2013 on Football Nation:
After losing James Harrison to division rival Cincinnati, the Steelers needed a replacement at the linebacker position. When their name came up at number 17 in the first round of the draft, Pittsburgh chose to go with Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones. Jones is a great linebacker who should do an amazing job in Steel Town. Is he good enough to resemble a certain beast out in Denver? If you had a hard time catching the hint, it's Von Miller. One of the best linebackers and pass rushers in the league. Miller won Defensive Rookie of the Year Award in his 2011 rookie season, and finished 3rd in sacks (18.5) last season. With a little more experience, I truly see Miller being the best linebacker in the league, and multiple Defensive Player of the Year Awards to come. After watching Miller evolve into the player he is the past two seasons, you wouldn't expect a rookie to be compared to him already. With Jarvis Jones, it's just hard not to. Jones and Miller are similar in size with...

Report: Free Agent OT Winston Justice to Meet with Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers, unless they resign them at some point later this off-season, have lost starting left tackle Max Starks, starting left guard Willie Colon and back-up center and guard Doug Legursky. That leaves them very thin on the offensive line behind their starting five and given the Steelers injury issues along the line over the past few years depth is something they...

Batch believes the Steelers may want to groom Landry Jones to replace Roethlisberger

Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that’s it’s possible that the Steelers drafted Landry Jones to take over for Ben Roethliserger at some point. “Maybe they weren’t happy with what they had behind Ben and Bruce. That could be. But ultimately, I think this isn’t about replacing me. Big picture, maybe they’re thinking,...

Offseason Roster Moves & Their Impact On The Steelers 2013 Draft

Christopher DiMarino Before I get into my thoughts on the 2013 draft, I want to review the players that were signed this offseason. Looking at the completed picture, I can see how the moves in free agency directly led to what positions were addressed in the draft. I am actually very impressed with the  job that the Pittsburgh Steelers did in free agency for a normally dormant free...

Reading Way Too Much Into The Offensive Depth Chart On The Steelers Website

It is hard to read very much into the latest offensive depth chart on the official website of the Pittsburgh Steelers, but we will dissect it nonetheless. For starters, Mike Adams is listed as the top right tackle as well as the backup at left tackle behind an empty spot. Head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the tackle spot during his pre draft press conference and would not commit...

Steelers take DT Nick Williams with final pick

The Pittsburgh Steelers have wrapped up their NFL draft by taking defensive tackle Nick Williams with their seventh-round pick. The 6-foot-4, 320-pound Williams will likely be moved to defensive end at some point. Defensive line coach John Mitchell calls Williams a raw talent who plays quicker than many players his size. Williams was a highly touted high school basketball player...

Steelers LB Sean Spence’s Career Could Be Coming To An End

Steelers LBs coach Keith Butler mentioned that it would be “miraculous” if last year’s third-round pick Sean Spence was able to continue his career in the NFL, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Spence, 22, suffered a terrible knee injury last season. He torn both his ACL and LCL while dislocating the knee, so there are some legitimate questions as to whether or not he’ll...

Hines Ward: Football is not ready for an openly gay player

The NBA became the first of the four major American team sports to have an openly gay player on Monday with Jason Collins’ decision to come out.
