The Pittsburgh Steelers’ playoff absence has given fans and pundits more time to dissect the 2013 NFL Draft, and what the Steelers should do with the No. 17 pick in the first round.
The month and a half of draft buildup culminates in this 2013 Steelers mock draft.
Then on Feb. 23, the draft season really begins with the NFL Scouting Combine.
Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia (6’2”, 242, Jr.)
Outside linebacker might be more of a need for the Steelers than most people realize. On one side, it looks like they’ll have either 35-year-old James Harrison or so-so third-year man Jason Worilds. On the other side, who knows if LaMarr Woodley will ever be the player he was before he injured his hamstring in 2011? Jones doesn’t come without questions. He has spinal stenosis, according to NFL.com, a condition that has forced some NFL players to retire early. A lot of teams who pick ahead of the Steelers might pass on Jones because of that. However, NFL Draft Scout ranks Jones as the top ou...
BEST OF MAXIM
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley has been criticized heavily for his play the last few seasons and several think that he is spending too much time in the media spotlight than under the lights of a weight training room.
Evidently a teammate of Woodley's thinks along those same lines, according to the latest piece by Ron Cook in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
According to Alan Robinson of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison and his agent have yet to be asked to restructure his contract or take a pay cut with less than four weeks to go until the new league starts.
“There is nothing going on," said Harrison's agent, Bill Parise, via the report by Robinson. "(If there's anything...
Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert mentioned that contract extensions for a few players might be in the works as part of the process to getting the team salary cap compliant by March 12, the start of the new league year. We will now have a look at a few players that the organization may or may not be considering to extend.
Ben Roethlisberger - Roethlisberger is the...
As Pittsburgh Steelers fans wait to see what transpires to the Steelers roster during the offseason, and who gets picked in the draft, there will be much speculation to what might occur. The Steelers find themselves in a salary cap dilemma not easily fixable. Mainly, five Steelers hold the lion’s share of the cap money. They are Ben Roethlisberger, James Harrison, Lawrence Timmons...
The world changed rapidly in 2007 and 2008.
Facebook and Twitter were becoming household words, the U.S. economy went into the dumper and the Pittsburgh Steelers had their first new coach in 15 years.
The Steelers also won their sixth Super Bowl during this time. Mike Tomlin won the Super Bowl in his second season as coach, faster than both Chuck Noll and Bill Cowher.
So, now we’ve come to the side of the ball where the Steelers’ bread is buttered. For years, the Steelers’ defense has instilled fear and respect in opponents. From the days of the Steel Curtain, through the years of Blitz-burgh and the Zone Blitz, to this latest incantation, defense has been the hallmark of Pittsburgh Steelers football.
The most natural place to start this...

With the Pittsburgh Steelers way over the 2013 salary cap, there have been some rumors that they will likely release linebacker James Harrison.
Harrison’s agent Bill Parise told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that the Steelers haven’t confronted him about Harrison’s contract yet.
With the Steelers about $14 million over the projected $121 million salary cap, there has been...
It’s not any secret that the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to be looking at the NFL draft for a running back. The question everyone will be asking is just how early in the draft do you grab one?
The days of the 25-carry a game running back are over in the NFL but you still have to be able to run the ball effectively and efficiently to be successful. There’s no sure-fire hit in...
STEELERS FREE AGENTS Who to Cut, Who to Keep Former Penn State defensive coordinator Tom Bradley joins former Pittsburgh Steeler offensive lineman and now broadcaster Craig Wolfley on his podcast. The podcast is 23 minutes and topic of discussion is a breakdown of Pittsburgh Steeler free agents and who to keep and who to [...]
Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman was a guest Friday on NFL Total Access and was asked who he thinks are the best cornerbacks in the league besides himself. His answer included a somewhat surprising name from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
"Well if Darrelle Revis is playing then I would say it's him, but this year he didn't get a chance to play," started...
Dave from @SteelersDepot was a stud guest on the podcast even if he did defend James Harrison’s hitting style. Dude is prolific, informed and generally about as knowledgeable as anyone I’ve talked NFL with in my life. I haven’t talked to him since the NFL season ended, so I tracked him down to talk about the Browns, the AFC North, the intricacies of NFL finance, and a whole...
If you didn’t have a reason to watch the Academy Awards before today, you do now. NFL.com is reporting that Gronk will work the red carpet as a correspondent at the Oscars next Sunday for the Rich Eisen podcast.
Gronkowski will be in Los Angeles a week from Sunday to serve as the Oscars red carpet correspondent for the “Rich Eisen Podcast.” This is a good thing.
Ok so Twitter finally rolled out downloadable Twitter archives for most everyone after testing it with smaller groups. And with that comes everyone going through their old, now-insignificant quips and attaching some sort of memory or weight to any given 15-20 words. I've done it. Man, I'm lucky to have seen multiple Steelers Super Bowls and a Pens Stanley Cup during my Twitter...
