Pittsburgh Steelers Sign Intriguing Defensive Lineman

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made yet another roster move during the NFL free agency period.

During the previous offseason, the Vikings and defensive lineman Dean Lowry reached an agreement on a two-year contract. Unfortunately, Lowry encountered a setback when he suffered a pectoral injury, leading to significant time on the sidelines.

Consequently, the team opted to part ways with him, making Lowry a free agent. As a result of this development, he now transitions from the NFC North to the AFC North.

In his move to a new team, Lowry has inked another two-year deal, this time with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Details regarding the financial aspects of the agreement were undisclosed at the time of signing.

As he gears up for the 2024 NFL season, Lowry will embark on his ninth year in the league. Prior to his stint with the Vikings, he spent seven seasons with the Packers. Throughout his career, he has participated in a total of 120 games. However, his time with the Vikings was limited to just nine games.

In those nine games, Lowry made four starts, tallying 14 tackles along with one pass deflection and one fumble recovery. With his move to the Steelers, it is anticipated that Lowry will continue to fulfill a similar rotational and depth role as he did with the Vikings.

While this move may not be viewed as anything huge, it’s a quality addition for the Steelers’ defensive front.

Lowry may not end up being a starter, but he’s excellent depth. Throughout his career, he has shown the ability to make plays when called upon. If he can stay healthy, this is a nice signing for the Steelers.
