NFL Injury Report:
Buffalo Bills safety, Jairus Byrd, has plantar fasciitis and
it may cause him to miss some regular season games, reports Dan
Hanzus of NFL.com
Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the sole of the
foot. The connective tissue that runs
underneath the foot traveling to the toes becomes inflamed and is actually
extremely painful. The intense pain is generally
felt underneath the heel of the foot.
Byrd dealt with this issue last season and received injections
to get his tail feathers on the field.
Who would have thought that one Byrd in Buffalo could cause
so much drama? I admit I knocked Byrd a
little bit for squawking at the Bills and making the team wait until the last
possible moment for him to sign his $6.9 million franchise tender.
However, I just had my “moment of clarity.” Byrd played through this injury last season
and even took injections to stay on the field for the losing Bills. Byrd now figures the Bills should award such football
chivalry and give him the coin he thinks he deserves. Instead, the Bills franchised him and they
still have the power to do it again next season.
Byrd chirped like a parakeet when he got to Buffalo because
he feels slighted by the team. What
motivation does Byrd have to give the Bills his remaining intestine until he is
beyond 100% Byrd standard ready? The
answer is obvious, none.
A Byrd sans nest egg is a Byrd who stays on his perch.
