Amid rumors that former Super Bowl winning wide receiver Plaxico Burress is interested in playing for the Oakland Raiders, reports have now surfaced that Plax has a tax lien placed on him by the State of New York because he owes them $59,000 in back taxes.
If Burress was desperate to catch on with a team before this situation, I imagine he will be trying even harder to earn a roster spot before the NFL season kicks off. As previously stated, the Oakland Raiders have neither confirmed or denied a mutual interest regarding signing the fresh-out-of-prison, wrong-side-of-30 receiver.
Similar to Terrell Owens claiming he still has something left in the tank, Burress made similar claims when he was released from prison earlier this year. I see no reason why a team that needs a receiver wouldn’t take a flyer on Plax, he wouldn’t command much money and it’s a win-win if he produces.
