Down and Distance:
Amid rumors that former Super Bowl winning wide receiver Plaxico Burress is interested in playing for the Oakland Raiders, reports have now surfaced that Plax has a tax lien placed on him by the State of New York because he owes them $59,000 in back taxes.
If Burress was desperate to catch on with a team before this situation, I imagine he will be trying even harder to earn a roster spot before the NFL season kicks off. As previously stated, the Oakland Raiders have neither confirmed or denied a mutual interest regarding signing the fresh-out-of-prison, wrong-side-of-30 receiver.
Similar to Terrell Owens claiming he still has something left in the tank, Burress made similar claims when he was released from prison earlier this year. I see no reason why a team that needs a receiver wouldn’t take a flyer on Plax, he wouldn’t command much money and it’s a win-win if he produces.

BEST OF MAXIM
Plaxico Burress has not experienced the same amount of success that Mike Vick has since his release from prison.
I’m not sure if that’s a result of a talent gap or how NFL front office people feel about Plax. Either way Burress is not any a camp at this moment and he is trying to figure out why.
The unemployed wide-out has put on a full court press to find a team before...
One of the biggest battles going on during the Oakland Raiders’ training camp is at backup running back behind Darren McFadden. Taiwan Jones and Mike Goodson have impressed both the fans who made it out to Napa over the weekend, and the Raider’s coaching staff. They have both impressed so much, that nobody, not the [...]
With Mike Wallace still down in New Orleans and none of the young wide receivers making a charge for a roster spot so far in training camp, the rumblings have started suggesting the Pittsburgh Steelers should sign Plaxico Burress before someone else does.
Whispers late Saturday night were linking the Oakland Raiders as a possible suitor for Burress, but nothing is imminent at...
The biggest worry on every Oakland Raider fans mind coming into 2012 is can Darren McFadden stay healthy for an entire season? McFadden has never had a season in his career where he wasn’t injured at least 3 games and when McFadden doesn’t play, the results are very noticeable especially in the 2011 season. Michael [...]
According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh post-Gazette, the reason free agent wide receiver Plaxico Burress is still available is because he’s asking for too much money.
It looks like the Steelers were looking into acquiring Burress as a replacement for Mike Wallace, but Bouchette said that he wants “too much money.”
The reason Burress is likely asking for too...
Oakland Raiders running back Mike Goodson was taken away from practice by ambulance on Tuesday with a possible neck injury following an on-field collision with teammate Philip Wheeler.
Goodson was attempting to catch a pass from Carson Palmer during a passing drill when he was leveled by Wheeler with what appeared to be a helmet-to-helmet hit that could be heard at the opposite...
Oakland Raiders running back Mike Goodson was removed from the field on a stretcher and taken to the hospital following a helmet-to-helmet hit during practice in Napa, Calif., on Tuesday, but the medical reports were encouraging. The Raiders released a statement on their website that said a CT scan and MRI both came back negative, and that Goodson returned to the team hotel Tuesday...
As the Raiders concluded their first week of training camp, the team practiced in front of fans for the third straight day. One less Raider was in attendance because the team waived nose tackle Travis Ivey before practice. On the other hand, cornerback Ron Bartell passed his physical and can now participate in team drills.
Ivey has been out of practice for the first five days because...
MIAMI (AP) -- Former Minnesota Viking Michael Bennett has pleaded guilty to his role in a South Florida tax refund and identity theft scheme. Court records show Bennett pleaded guilty last week to one count of wire fraud. As part of a plea agreement, federal prosecutors agreed to recommend less than the possible 20-year sentence. Prosecutors say the FBI operated an undercover check...
There has recently been something about being drafted by the Oakland Raiders and going into your 3rd year with the organization. It might have even started with Hall Of Fame Tight End Dave Casper, who caught 53 passes and 10 touchdowns in his 3rd season with the Silver and Black. Casper was drafted in 1974; 3 years later, the Raiders won their first Super Bowl, in which Casper caught...
Should Maria be on our Greatest Porn Names of the London Olympics list? Probably, but guessing the pronunciation is something like HO-MOL-OVA. It’s not really on the level of Dong Dong. Sorry, haters. We’re now to Day 12 and at this point you know what’s on TV (full schedule) – basketball, track, hand ball, water polo. *Special Alert – the all-USA beach volleyball final...
