Things get interesting today.  Certainly a bit more interesting than they were with some of the special teams categories.  Just FYI there were some difficulties creating these categories because of the various switches between the 4-3 and 3-4.  For example, for the purposes of this poll Kenard Lang is a defensive end, while Kamerion Wimbley is an outside linebacker.  David Bowens and Matt Roth are also listed at outside linebacker too because that’s what they played when they were here.  Marcus Benard was a tough one because he is a DE now, but he certainly made his noise (so far) as an outside linebacker.  I’ve already probably said more than you care to know. Even though I’ve already beaten this into the ground, I’d also like to point out that I made Chaun Thompson an outside linebacker because that’s what I remember most, despite the fact that I believe someone tried to put him inside at one point.  Regardless, if you are voting for Chaun Thompson...

Hillis Will be Back if He Wants to Be Back

According to a report by Mary Kay Cabot yesterday Peyton Hillis might have done enough for the Browns to reverse previous course and consider bringing the big bruiser back.  While I don’t doubt that with Hillis’ late-season surge after finally getting healthy enough to get on the field, I am not sure how much exactly he has proven in terms of dollar signs. In November...

Randy Lerner, The Browns and the New Business as Usual

Mike Holmgren’s interactions with the media weren’t perfect this year.  He left everyone with some audio that he could regret some day if he was the type of guy to ever truly regret anything.  I don’t get that sense about him, but certain quotes about playoff tickets could haunt a less confident person.  Anyone who knows me well knows that I dwell on things I...

POLL: Who are the Best Browns Players Since 1999? Special Teams

Whew. That exercise yesterday was difficult to say the least. I know for some of you it was just downright depressing. Well, today things get a lot easier. This is a walk in the park compared to yesterday. I figure the only really difficult question is who is the best punter and second place for pretty much every other category. So have fun. Enjoy today’s poll. Tomorrow is...

Even with Mary Kay Cabot having replaced Tony Grossi on the Hall of Fame Selection Committee, Art Modell is still only getting in over a pile of dead bodies

In the wake of last week’s removal of Tony Grossi from the Plain Dealer’s Browns beat, some folks tried to scare up the boogeyman of Art Modell’s induction into the NFL Hall of Fame. Grossi had been the leading advocate on the Hall’s selection committee for the righteous cause of keeping Modell out, so the line was that the Art Modell induction ceremony that...

Today in 1981: Brian Sipe Tosses Two Picks in Pro Bowl

On February 2, 1981, the Associated Press reports of Cleveland Browns quarterback and NFL MVP Brian Sipe throwing the only touchdown recorded by the AFC during that very season’s Pro Bowl. Unfortunately for Sipe, playing in the annual recognition game a mere one month after the infamous Red Right 88 game, he lost a fumble and threw two interceptions. He would go on to complete...

NFL Rumors: Donovan McNabb Being Linked to Cleveland Browns

Veteran NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb has been in the news and some around the league feel that his next suitor could be the Cleveland Browns. WKNR 850AM mid-morning radio host Tony Rizzo tweeted live from Indianapolis that three separate sources have linked the former Philadelphia Eagle quarterback to three of his former superiors in general manager Tom Heckert, current Browns...

NFL Yearbook: 2011 Cleveland Browns

Residents of Cleveland may be surprised by the unseasonably warm weather that has settled over the city in recent days, as well as the mild winter as a whole. While meteorologists and scientists scramble to articulate the exact scientific reasons for this beautiful weather, many Cleveland Browns fans may be inclined to offer an alternative explanation: the storm clouds that hung...

Browns have renewed interest in keeping Peyton Hillis

Halfway through the 2011 season, Peyton Hillis appeared to be on his way out of Cleveland. His disastrous 2011 season included injuries, poor play, and finger-pointing from his teammates. A quietly strong end to the season has apparently changed the team’s mind. Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer reports via a league source the Browns are…

The Mirage; Super Bowl Pick

After the likes of Tim Couch, Kelly Holcomb, Doug Pederson, Spergon Wynn, Charlie Frye, Derek Anderson, Brady Quinn......a championship quality is a mirage to Browns fans. Now with Colt McCoy and Seneca Wallace, a championship quality QB in Cleveland remains a mirage, or does it?

Tony Grossi Removed from Hall of Fame Committee

The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that Mary Kay Cabot is replacing Tony Grossi on the Hall of Fame committee. The need to replace Grossi was due to the Plain dealer removing Grossi as a Browns Beat writer, due to his Twitter screw-up, one that blasted Randy Lerner--owner of the Cleveland Browns. Those unfamiliar with what will surely be called "The Tweet" in Browns...

Cleveland Browns should bring back Peyton Hillis in 2012, says Dennis Manoloff (SBTV)

Plain Dealer reporter says RB's 2011 season was an aberration and that Browns should let bygones be bygones.
