A Christian Ponder pass was intercepted by Eric Wright at the Lions 28. But Stephen Tulloch got flagged for a 15-yard personal foul penalty. Not exactly sure what Tulloch did. Could you tell? Waiting for a replay. That turnover is Ponder's third intercepted pass of the game. Strangely enough,

That Tulloch penalty

Stephen Tulloch got penalized with a personal foul because of his block on Christian Ponder during the interception return. I'm guessing that official thought Tulloch's block was outside the rules because Ponder didn't appear to be blocking near the return. Just a guess, though. Jim

Tulloch recovers fumble for a TD

Another great play for Stephen Tulloch. He scooped up the ball near the goaline after a sack and forced fumble by Cliff Avril. Loss of eight yards on the play. Great anticipation from Tulloch, a guy whose been extremely valuable to the Lions this season.

Three questions with ... Lions linebacker Stephen Tulloch

Free Press sports writer Dave Birkett caught up with Lions linebacker Stephen Tulloch for a few questions:

Detroit Lions cornerback Eric Wright ready to put previous performance behind him

Detroit Lions cornerback Eric Wright struggled in his team's previous game, but is ready to put that performance him against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

Lions' defense starts and ends with big play

DETROIT -- It was somehow appropriate that the Lions game ended the way it started -- with the defense making a big play. On the Vikings' first offensive play, defensive end Cliff Avril sacked rookie quarterback Christian Ponder, forcing a fumble that linebacker Stephen Tulloch recovered in the end zone for a touchdown. "Honestly, Cliff Avril is probably the best-kept...

Lions Blow Halftime Lead, Escape With 34-28 Victory Against Vikings

Stephen Tulloch recovered a fumble in the end zone two minutes into the game, Alphonso Smith returned an interception for a score in the second quarter, and a defensive stop in the final moments kept the Lions in the thick of the playoff race. With the Vikings at the one-yard line with nine seconds to play, defensive end Cliff Avril pressured quarterback Joe Webb and forced a fumble...

Thom Brennaman Was Especially Awful During Yesterday's Lions-Vikings Game

I might be in the minority, and crazy for this, but I'm typically a fan of Thom Brennaman. He has a distinct voice that definitely should be calling sports games and he'll forever remind me of one of my greatest sports memories. But what he did during yesterday's Lions-Vikings game is indefensible. Brennaman, paired up with Brian Billick (who is a weekly problem himself...

Live blog: Lions get sack, fumble, recovery for TD

The Lions punted on their first possession, but on Minnesota's first snap, Cliff Avril sacked Christian Ponder, forced a fumble in the end zone, and Stephen Tulloch recovered it in the end zone.

More injuries in the secondary

Just got the word Eric Wright, a Lions corner, has a hamstring injury and might not return. He's considered questionable.

Patriots, Lions with defensive touchdowns within seconds of other

Within the first five minutes of Week 14's slate, two defenses scored. That is already a rare occurrence, but the Lions and Patriots both came away with touchdowns in the same way. Each team forced a fumble in the end zone and recovered it. First, Christian Ponder fumbled, and Stephen Tulloch recovered to give the Lions and early lead. Just 50 football seconds later, Rex Grossman...

A second look: Detroit Lions' makeshift secondary not perfect, but came up huge vs. Vikings

Eric Wright, Alphonso Smith, Don Carey and Chris Harris all made big plays to help the Lions preserve a 34-28 win over the Vikings.

Minnesota Vikings @ Detroit Lions: 3rd quarter running diary

Vikes will start the 2nd half with the ball. They've actually out gained the Lions 171-151, 112-36 on the ground. But they've also out turnovered the Lions 4-0, and could have easily had 2 more. Stafford is outplaying Ponder, which the Lions had to have today. Stafford: 9-14-131-2 TD-0 INT-142.2 rating Ponder: 10-18-87-2 TD-2INT-66 rating Ponder's first pass of the...
