It’s not any secret that the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to be looking at the NFL draft for a running back. The question everyone will be asking is just how early in the draft do you grab one? The days of the 25-carry a game running back are over in the NFL but you still have to be able to run the ball effectively and efficiently to be successful. There’s no sure-fire hit in this class, but I feel there are numerous guys who could look really good in the black ‘n gold. With the supposed switch to the zone blocking system, that means the Steelers will be looking for specific types of backs. Whether the guys I’ve chosen to discuss fit that profile is yet to be determined in some cases. Eddie Lacy (ALA) – Lacy’s stock blew up following his monster BCS Title game performance against Notre Dame but the truth is that his stock was already rising. At 220lbs., Lacy has excellent power but what I really like about him are his feet which I find very quick for a guy his size. What concerns m...

5 most overrated NFL Free Agents: Mike Wallace, more

Every year during NFL free agency teams fall for the hype of players and hurt themselves in the long run. A free agent that looks good on paper turns out to be a bust and doesn’t live up to the mega contract that they had signed. Mario Williams is one example from last year as he didn’t do anything to make a big difference for the Buffalo Bills. The Bills were still the same...

James Harrison Plays Dodgeball While He Awaits Word From The Steelers

According to Alan Robinson of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison and his agent have yet to be asked to restructure his contract or take a pay cut with less than four weeks to go until the new league starts. “There is nothing going on," said Harrison's agent, Bill Parise, via the report by Robinson. "(If there's anything...

We will now have a look at a few players that the organization may or may not be considering to extend. Ben Roethlisberger - Roethlisberger is the...

Grading the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Round-by-Round Value in the 2007 and 2008 NFL Drafts

The world changed rapidly in 2007 and 2008. Facebook and Twitter were becoming household words, the U.S. economy went into the dumper and the Pittsburgh Steelers had their first new coach in 15 years. The Steelers also won their sixth Super Bowl during this time. Mike Tomlin won the Super Bowl in his second season as coach, faster than both Chuck Noll and Bill Cowher. It shouldn’t...

Steelers bring in Richard Mann to coach receivers

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made their choice, hiring Aliquippa native Richard Mann as their new receivers coach. The job has been open since Scottie Montgomery resigned last week to join the coaching staff at Duke University, reports Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Would The Steelers Delay Restructuring Ben Roethlisberger In Order To Stick It To The Ravens?

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk has a very interesting scenario that relates to the Pittsburgh Steelers possibly wanting to wait until after March 4 to restructure the contract of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to ensure that the Baltimore Ravens have a higher exclusive franchise tag number to carry on quarterback Joe Flacco until they get a new long-term deal worked out with him...

Steelers still haven’t confronted James Harrison about his contract

Richard Sherman Thinks Keenan Lewis Is One Of The Best Cornerbacks In The League

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman was a guest Friday on NFL Total Access and was asked who he thinks are the best cornerbacks in the league besides himself. His answer included a somewhat surprising name from the Pittsburgh Steelers. "Well if Darrelle Revis is playing then I would say it's him, but this year he didn't get a chance to play," started...

Pittsburgh Steelers 2013 Offseason Preview

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ 2012 season came to a rather fitting end (for all intents and purposes) in Week 16, at home against their division rival, the Cincinnati Bengals. With both teams desperate for a win to keep their playoff hopes alive and locked up in a 10-10 slugfest with just 44 seconds left in regulation, Pittsburgh took over on their own 11. Up until that point, the teams...

WFNY Podcast – 2013-02-15 – @SteelersDepot talking Browns and the rest of the AFC North

Dave from @SteelersDepot was a stud guest on the podcast even if he did defend James Harrison’s hitting style. Dude is prolific, informed and generally about as knowledgeable as anyone I’ve talked NFL with in my life. I haven’t talked to him since the NFL season ended, so I tracked him down to talk about the Browns, the AFC North, the intricacies of NFL finance, and a whole...

Everyone PSAMP Has Nominated For Pope

Ok so Twitter finally rolled out downloadable Twitter archives for most everyone after testing it with smaller groups. And with that comes everyone going through their old, now-insignificant quips and attaching some sort of memory or weight to any given 15-20 words. I've done it. Man, I'm lucky to have seen multiple Steelers Super Bowls and a Pens Stanley Cup during my Twitter...
