In recent days, soccer fans have been coming out of the woodwork, showing their allegiance to “the world’s game” as World Cup fever starts to reach a fever pitch. Jumping on the bandwagon of Team USA makes sense; national pride will get sports fans to tune into almost anything. But the conversations have also revealed that plenty of people in the United States have become fans of overseas teams as well. Real Madrid. Barcelona. Manchester United. Bayern Munich. Arsenal. Name a prominent European team and someone in America is suddenly on their bandwagon. It becomes an obvious question: Why do people with no built-in allegiance to a team wind up becoming a fan? Which leads to an interesting hypothetical. If roles were reversed and people from other countries were forming a bond with a National Football League team, which ones would they gravitate toward? It led the editorial staff at cover32 to rate each NFL franchise based on their likability. The idea is simple: If a fan was neutral, what teams would they be most attracted to. Star players often steal the spotlight around the NFL. This is especially true this time of the year when many big-name contributors receive massive contract extensions or run into off-the-field trouble. Vincent Jackson’s impact felt among rookies

Wide receiver Mike Evans was often compared to Vincent Jackson throughout college. Much of the same is still said just a couple of mini-camps into his professional career. Evans will eventually make a name for himself in the NFL but first, he is soaking in the advice given by player he is often compared to. The rookie receiver has looked forward to working alongside Jackson since...

Bowers’ health at the center of attention again

Buccaneers’ defensive end Da’Quan Bowers has yet to live up to the promise and expectation that he came into the league with. Now on his third coaching staff, Bowers faces some of the same adversity he’s had since entering the league.  Defensive line coach Joe Cullen earlier this month talked about how the former Clemson star would have to get into playing shape. We now know...

One member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers named the best of Nos. 20-29 in the NFL

Certain players are simply synonymous with certain numbers. It’s hard to see No. 4 without thinking of Brett Favre. Seven will always be John Elway. A pair of twos right next to each other is Emmitt Smith. And the sight of 56 conjures up memories of Lawrence Taylor. Those are some of the all-time greats, players who have etched their names in the NFL’s history books. But there...

Five bold predictions for the Tampa Bay Bucs

It truly is the dead time of the year for sports and no, I do not care about the World Cup. I don’t understand soccer, don’t like soccer and find the whole thing beyond boring. The NBA and NHL finals are done and training camp is over a month away. So alone with my thoughts and the Bucs training camp roster, I did some late night studying, and I now have five bold predictions...

Quotable Monday – Josh McCown and his role in 2014

“I have so much respect for Lovie’s character and integrity. As we talked, I said, ‘Let’s lay out what the expectations are and move forward from there.’ We were open in those communications. He understands that, regardless of starter or not, it’s about helping our team be good at the quarterback position. … If I’m the starter, I go and play as hard as I can. But...

Mike Evans: NFL hasn't seen anything like Johnny Manziel

Despite putting up eye-popping numbers at Texas A&M, pundits and critics alike believe Johnny Manziel’s penchant for enjoying a beer and late night partying are going to be a hindrance to his career. Manziel’s former teammate at A&M, Mike Evans, believes the NFL will be shocked by the Johnny Manziel they see in Cleveland.  While at the 2014 NFL Rookie Symposium on Tuesday...

What will be Lavante David’s impact in 2014

For many fans, the 2013 Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ season did not hold many memorable moments. That especially holds true when thinking about linebacker Lavonte David. Even though he was named NFC defensive player of the week after his stellar performance against the Detroit Lions, David’s’ most remembered moment of the season goes all the way back to week one when he hit New York...

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson named 18th best in NFL

When cover32 released its list of the top 10 wide receivers in the NFL today, there were plenty of people angry about their favorite team’s top pass catcher not making the list. It made for a spirited debate in the “Comments” section below the article. And it also begged another question: How close was Mr. Irate Fan’s WR to making the list? To provide an answer, the editors...

Do the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have any of the best of Nos. 30-39 in the NFL?

Certain players are simply synonymous with certain numbers. It’s hard to see No. 4 without thinking of Brett Favre. Seven will always be John Elway. Buccaneers Have High Hopes for Mike Evans

I could make an argument for Mike Evans being the biggest part of the phenomenon that was Johnny Manziel's career at Texas A&M. Things get much easier in the pocket if you have a giant, muscled up receiver to just heave the football to when you get in trouble. Evans was the go to guy for Johnny Football, especially when things were breaking down and the quarterback was...
