Colts elder statesmen of the secondary Jerraud Powers and Antoine Bethea spoke to the media today including our own Nate Dunlevy about the transition, a veteran's responsibilities and the team's progress in Pagano's new defensive scheme.  Powers is recognizant that he must lead if the secondary is to improve. That guidance and leadership is something he takes seriously but noted he prefers to do with action rather than words: I still look at myself as a young guy. I just turned 25 this offseason and everybody looked at me like I'm the vet you know, especially in the secondary with the cornerback position. I sort of take on that challenge. Ever since I got here I kind of carried myself to be considered as like an older vet rather than a younger guy. I always want to be a guy that somebody can come up to and ask for advice or direction or whatever the case may be. ... I don't put any extra pressure on myself. I conduct myself in a way that I feel if anybody is ...

Reggie Wayne arrived at Colts training camp over the weekend riding in a military vehicle and wearing fatigues.

Colts' Training Camp Tidbits: What Will Happen to Ben Ijalana?

After learning that A.J. Edds and Griff Whalen were sidelined with injuries yesterday, we get news that Ben Ijalana reaggravated his left knee on Sunday, the same knee in which a torn ACL caused him to miss most of the 2011 season. Ijalana, along with Edds (who may have torn his ACL) is awaiting an MRI to find out the seriousness of the injury.  For Ijalana, this is a big blow...

Luck starts light as Colts camp opens

Andrew Luck didn't get much of a chance to show his strong right arm at Sunday morning's first training camp workout. Instead, the No. 1 draft pick is impressing new teammates with his command. Receiver Austin Collie says Luck knows the Colts' new offense better than the veterans, and another receiver, Donnie Avery, likes Luck's take-charge approach in the huddle...

Colts' Andrew Luck ready to start new job

Andrew Luck will get a crash course in life as an NFL rookie. The No. 1 pick in April's draft reported to training camp on time Saturday and was the second Colts' player to take questions from reporters. So far, Luck has been limited in what he's been able to do with his teammates. Over the next three weeks, offensive coordinator Bruce Arians and quarterbacks coach...

Indianapolis Colts OC Bruce Arians calls QB Andrew Luck “scary good”

The Indianapolis Colts have started their rebuilding process, preparing for life without QB Peyton Manning. The Colts however have a great player to build around at the quarterback position in Stanford rookie, Andrew Luck. Luck was one of the most highly touted rookies entering the draft since perhaps his predecessor Manning or Broncos QB John Elway. Luck enters this season with...

Andrew Luck draws Lucas Oil Stadium

Back in May, a collectibles company put 35 rookie NFL players together, gave them a 2.5 x 3.5 inch card, and asked them to draw something. Andrew Luck had Indianapolis on his mind when he gave the company his impression of Lucas Oil Stadium. Andrew Luck may not be the next da Vinci or Picasso, but the sketch is, if nothing else, somewhat comical. It would seem that even Andrew Luck...

Edgerrin James to join Colts ring of honor

Getty Images The Indianapolis Colts have announced they are inducting Edgerrin James into their ring of honor this upcoming season. James, who was their fourth overall pick in the 1999 draft, was a star running back for the franchise until 2006. During those seven seasons as a Colt, James set their career records for rushing attempts (2,188), rushing yards, (9,226), and rushing touchdowns...

Colts coach gives Luck jersey to Steelers fan

He might be a pretty harsh critic of impromptu music, but say this about Chuck Pagano: he’s establishing a brand with the Colts. During Monday’s training camp practice, the first-year coach was notified by safety Tom Zbikowski that one attending fan (if you could call him that) was wearing a Steelers jersey. The fan in question was Zach Simmons, a 24-year-old who was only there...

Colts' pass-rush tandem embraces position change

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By MICHAEL MAROT AP Sports Writer Dwight Freeney thought he had seen everything in the NFL. Then came June, when he lined up during a minicamp and realized he was covering Pro Bowl receiver Reggie Wayne. Freeney shook his head in disbelief and Wayne just laughed. As part of the Colts' massive offseason overhaul, defensive players are getting a crash course...

Colts coach gives Steelers fan Andrew Luck jersey

Even former Baltimore Ravens are having a tough time letting go of their old rivalry with Pittsburgh. After Colts safety Tom Zbikowski spotted a Steelers jersey in the crowd at Monday afternoon's practice, new coach Chuck Pagano took care of the situation. The former Ravens defensive coordinator handed the Pittsburgh fan a new Andrew Luck jersey and jokingly told him to put...

Steelers fan forced to wear Andrew Luck jersey at Colts training camp

File this one under 'strange but true.' A Steelers fan attended the training camp of the Indianapolis Colts in Anderson, Ind. and was forced to wear an Andrew Luck jersey by head coach Chuck Pagano (former Raven) after arriving in a black James Harrison jersey. Pagano was alerted to the fan by Colts safety (and former Raven) Tom Zbikowski (anybody else noticing a pattern...
