Well, we couldn't have asked for a much better first play to open the year, could we?

CB Brandon Browner grabbed a bobbled pass to Titans TE Jared Cook and returned it for a touchdown, making this arguably the flashiest start to a Seahawks season that I can remember. The throw, ironically, was from none other than former Seahawk QB Matt Hasselbeck.

After a bit of a defensive battle back and forth throughout the first half, the score now sits at 10-3 at halftime, in favor of the Seahawks. Some notes from the game so far:

  • The first-team Seahawk defense looks stout and as solid as advertised. Besides Browner, CB Richard Sherman had an interception when Hasselbeck was going for the red zone in the first quarter.
  • DEs Jason Jones and Bruce Irvin have consisently applied pressure to the QB and giving the Titans' offensive line plenty to deal with, though they've generated no sacks so far. I'm not expecting perfection on the first game of the preseason, though.
  • RB Robert Turbin has looked like he's somewhere between a Marshawn Lynch and an in-his-prime version of Marion Barber. He's surprisingly fast for a guy with biceps the size of the Space Needle. 
  • Matt Flynn has looked confident, poised and accurate in the pocket. He did throw an INT late in the first half, but again, I'm not expecting everything to be perfect just yet. Flynn's upside so far has undoubtedly outweighed his slight mistakes. This is what preseason is for -- ironing out the kinks in the game. Flynn will be the starter for the Seahawks this season, barring any freak occurrences (knock on wood.) 

  • LB Bobby Wagner has been all over the place. This kid could very well be our answer to Patrick Willis, as Michael Robinson predicted earlier this week. We'll see how this pans out, but I have high hopes for our 2nd-round pick so far. 

 

 The second half is now underway -- let's see how QB Russell Wilson runs the offense now.
