Those were words used to describe Philip Wheeler coming out of college. He averaged a half sack per game his senior year at Georgia Tech and also led the team in tackles. His athleticism allows him to play coverage as well and he led Georgia Tech in interceptions in 2007 with four, not bad for an inside linebacker. His athleticism was a big part of why he was drafted by the Colts in the third round of the 2008 draft. The Colts have been a very finesse defense for the better part of a decade and really liked how a guy like Wheeler fit into their defensive system. Oakland Raiders training camp competition - Middle Linebackers

The Oakland Raiders linebacker competition is one of the most interesting battles on the team. Oakland brought in several new players to compete for jobs during training camp and the preseason. The middle linebacker position should have been a no brainer with Rolando McClain continuing to develop into the player the Raiders' drafted eight overall. However his legal issues have...

Richard Seymour says Dennis Allen has the “it factor”

Getty Images Oakland Raiders defensive lineman Richard Seymour told Rich Gannon on Sirius XM NFL Radio that new head coach Dennis Allen has the “it factor.” “Some coaches just have the ‘it factor’ and Dennis Allen has it. I can’t stress enough about everyone being on the same page,” said Seymour, per Adam Schein. The Raiders aren’t the most talented team, but if they...

Oakland Raiders 2012 Training Camp Competition: Specialists

The Oakland Raiders have some of the best specialists in the NFL, marked by three Pro Bowl selections in 2011. There is not much competition at these positions because kicker Sebastian Janikowski, punter Shane Lechler, and long snapper Jon Condo are still at the top of their game. Undrafted free agent punter, Marquette King is a player to watch during training camp and the preseason...

Seahawks fans expunge the bitter memories of Aaron Curry by exploding his jersey (VIDEO)

Seems only fitting that the Seahawks logo remained intact. LB Aaron Curry, drafted 4th overall by the Seahawks in 2009, has turned out to be a monumental bust, to the point that Seattle shipped his underproductive body to the Raiders in October of 2011 for a late round pick in 2012, and a conditional pick in 2013.  Apparently the Wake Forest product had some not-so-nice things...

Seahawks Fans Blow Up Aaron Curry Jersey For Revenge But Also For Explosion

Aaron Curry is presently a linebacker in the Raiders’ vaunted Whatevs defense. Not long ago, he was a huge bust for the Seahawks, having been taken fourth overall in 2009 Draft by Seattle and producing 126 tackles, 5.5 sacks and four forced fumbles in roughly two and a half seasons. It seems recently he also spoke critically of his former team, which would explain some of the...

Angry Seahawks fans literally blow up old Aaron Curry jersey

These guys just took jersey burning to a whole new level, a level that involves bombs! Aaron Curry has yet to live up to the hype after being selected #4 overall in the 2009 NFL draft by the Seattle Seahawks. Late in 2011, Seattle gave up on the Curry project and traded him to the Oakland Raiders for pennies on the dollar. While the Seahawks organization may have moved on, some...
