Progression or Regression: Dolphins defensive line

The Miami Dolphins went into this offseason fully committed to a youth movement, which explains why the powers that be avoided progress stoppers – their term, not mine – like they had the plague. But desperate times call for desperate measures. That’s the best way to explain why the Trifecta has added three aged, and formerly out of work defensive linemen over the past two weeks. Phillip Merling’s Achilles injury and Jason Ferguson’s unexpected retirement not only left the Dolphins with some vacancies on the defense’s front line, but the unit needed some proven run stuffers. Marques Douglas, Charlies Grant and Montavious Stanley, the three veterans recently signed, collectively bring 22 seasons worth of experience, 203 starts and 69 sacks.
