The following are excerpts from Falcons coach Mike Smith’s Monday press conference following the 17-10 loss to the Texans.
Good afternoon. Obviously we didn’t make enough plays in the ball game yesterday to get the outcome that we wanted. We did some very uncharacteristic things on offense and defense that put us in a situation that we could not overcome.
With that I will open it up to questions.
Q. Before we look back, can we look forward? Down the stretch with four games left, three of them are against division opponents. Do you look at that as a blessing or a curse?
A. I think that division opponents have more weight than any of the other games that we play because the first thing that you have to do is win your division. To win your division, you have to win your division games. The first thing is when you get into the end of the season there will be a lot of different scenarios that could possibly arise, after head-to-head, division record is one of the top tiebreakers.
