As a result of the latest twist of the Peyton Manning watch, former San Francisco 49ers QB Alex Smith has announced that he will visit the Miami Dolphins today. This is being reported by Adam Schefter on Twitter this morning. The Dolphins met with free agent QB Matt Flynn on Saturday and are looking to upgrade the position. Miami wanted to land Peyton Manning but he informed the franchise on Thursday that he wouldn’t be heading to the Dolphins. The Niners offered Alex Smith a reported 3-year deal worth $24 million but the deal has not been consummated. There are two things of interest which have arisen this weekend regarding this situation. First, the Miami Dolphins obviously weren’t sold on Matt Flynn or they tried to lowball him on a contract offer. I find it interesting that Flynn left without a contract. Head coach Joe Philbin along with offensive coordinator Mike Sherman know more about Flynn than any other free agent quarterback on the market. Second, I wonder if ...

The San Francisco 49ers flirted with a future Hall of Fame quarterback last week as they were in the chase for QB Peyton Manning. Ultimately, the 49ers missed out on Manning and in their actions, bruised the ego of one Alex Smith. Smith reportedly was looking to change agents on Saturday night, being represented by the same agent as Peyton Manning, Tom Condon. Alex Smith...

49ers give Mario Manningham a two-year contract

According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com,free agent wide receiver Mario Manningham has signed a two-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers. There was simply no way the Giants were going to retain Manningham. He was looking for a lot more money then they could offer. Peyton Manning Becomes John Elway's Biggest Catch During Tenure as Broncos Executive

Over the course of about two weeks or so, there were multiple favorites that emerged to land Peyton Manning. Flynn and Seahawks Agree on Three-Year Deal

He was regarded as the second best free-agent quarterback on the market. I'm not quite sure why since he hasn't proven anything, but nonetheless many people regarded him as the No. 2 guy on the market behind Peyton Manning. The Seattle Seahawks agreed that he was a top free-agent quarterback as they signed Matt Flynn to a three-year deal worth $26 million, $10 million of...

Dolphins trading Brandon Marshall had nothing to do with Peyton Manning

When the Dolphins traded Brandon Marshall to the Bears earlier this week, many people speculated it had to do with the team’s pursuit of Peyton Manning. Turns out that was not the case.
