PLAYERS: Eli Manning
TEAMS: New York Giants
A person familiar with the decision says Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning has restructured his contract with the New York Giants. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity Thursday because the team has not officially announced the quarterback's deal. Under terms of the restructuring, the Giants will guarantee $9 million of Manning's $10.75 million salary in 2012. The move allows the Giants to divide the guarantee over the final four years of the contract, reduces his base salary to $1.75 million and clears roughly $6.75 million in cap space, the source said. Manning had a career season in 2011, leading the Giants to their second Super Bowl title in five seasons.

Jets Bow Out of the Manning Race

Fans that were itching to see the Peyton and Eli Manning compete for the love of the Big Apple are going to be a little disappointed. The New York Jets effectively took themselves out of the running for the elder Manning’s services by giving their current quarterback, Mark Sanchez, a contract extension. “To find out that I could come back for three more years means the world...

2012 NFL Standings: NFC East Early Predictions

The NFC East is probably one of the most talked about divisions in all of the NFL.  Whether it is the talks about Eli Manning and the "boom or bust" New York Giants defense each season, the Dallas Cowboys and the question of whether this is their year or not, the Philadelphia Eagles and their "dream team", or the Washington Redskins who just want some consistency...

You Probably Haven't Read a Writer's Opinion on Peyton Manning and the Redskins yet

Manning or No Manning, N.Y. Jets show they have no confidence in Mark Sanchez

Four years ago days before the Fourth of July holiday, Green Bay Packers great Brett Favre was reconsidering retirement. After wasting everyone’s time with a teary-eyed good-bye in March of 2008, Favre told the Packers that he wanted to come back. However, at that point in the year the Packers were prepared to move forward with Aaron Rodgers as training camp was just a couple weeks...

Can’t Spell Elite Without Eli?

Now that everyone has had some time to think about what happened in the Super Bowl, do we all still really believe that Eli Manning is an elite NFL quarterback? Of course I can’t speak for everybody else, but I certainly do not. If you’ve won two Super Bowls in your career, odds are you’re a very good NFL quarterback, and the intent of my argument is not to deny this. However...
