Former Packers backup quarterback Matt Flynn has found a new home and a team to begin his career as a starter, agreeing to a three-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks. Multiple reports have Flynn's deal paying him approximately 10 million guaranteed with the possibility of the contract reaching up to 26 million. It is highly likely that the starting job with the Seahawks has already been promised to Flynn in an effort to convince the 26-year-old quarterback to choose Seattle over his other interested suitor, the Miami Dolphins. Last season, the Seahawks' top quarterback was Tarvaris Jackson, but his 14-touchdown pass, 13-interception, five-fumble year left Seattle with a 7-9 record and in need of an upgrade. Flynn already had close ties with Seahawks' general manager John Schneider, who was the Packers director of football operations until 2010. The decision to sign with Seattle means that Flynn bypassed the opportunity to reunite with his offensive coordinator in Green Bay, Joe Philbin. Now Miami's head coach, Philbin had been with the Packers ever since the team drafted Flynn in the seventh round in 2008. Flynn's Seahawks will host his former mentor, Aaron Rodgers, and Green Bay in a regular-season game this upcoming season. The exact week of that game will not be known until the full NFL 2012 schedule is released in April. While Flynn has only started two games in his four-year career, one of them was a record-breaking performance against the Detroit Lions in Week 17 of this past season. In that game, Flynn threw for 480 yards and six touchdowns and became the Packers' all-time single-game leader in both of those categories. That was a better statistical game than Rodgers or Brett Favre ever accomplished. Before becoming Rodgers' backup in Green Bay, Flynn had success as a starting quarterback in college. In his senior year at LSU, Flynn led the Tigers to a victory in the BCS National Championship game against Ohio State in which he was named the offensive MVP. Though Flynn did not play in Super Bowl XLV, he did win a championship ring from the Packers' victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Follow Paul Imig on Twitter.
