Free agent quarterback David Garrard is still open to the possibility of joining the Miami Dolphins, the Miami Herald reported Tuesday night.
A report earlier Tuesday said Garrard and Jake Delhomme both were unsuccessfully pursued by the winless Dolphins, who are looking for a possible replacement for the injured Chad Henne.
According to the report, Garrard was reluctant to join the Dolphins because there was no guaranteed money offered. He was expecting to begin the season as Jacksonville's starting quarterback until being abruptly waived less than a week before the opener in a cost-cutting move.
The Dolphins are unlikely to make a long-term commitment to any quarterback until they determine whether Henne's separated left shoulder is a season-ending injury.
Miami's backup quarterback is Matt Moore, who was 17-of-26 for 167 yards and an interception in relief of Henne. He spent the previous four seasons with Carolina.
