Titans coach Mike Munchak announced on Monday that Jake Locker will be the starting quarterback for the Titans in Friday's preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Locker, a second-year pro, is battling last year's starter, Matt Hasselbeck, for the regular-season starting job. Hasselbeck started the preseason opener, but Munchak said Locker had closed the gap on Hasselbeck, after a good showing in the preseason game against Seattle. Locker led the Titans on a 79-yard touchdown drive before halftime. Hasselbeck threw two interceptions in the game. "It is a position he hasn't had a chance to be in yet," Munchak told the Tennesseean regarding Locker's starting assignment. "... It should be a good test under a lot of duress, being on the road against a young team that wants to win games." Munchak said Locker and the first-team offense will play about half the game.
