Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson struggled against the Rams on the road throwing 3 interceptions. So it was natural that the question would come up about whether the Seahawks might consider turning to their big free-agent acquisition, Matt Flynn.

John Boyle of the Everett Herald reports Seahawks coach Pete Carroll appeared on 710 ESPN Seattle this morning and said that even if he wanted to make a change, he can't right now. Flynn, who has been dealing with a sore elbow since the preseason, is available for games, but not yet ready to go through a full week of practice as a starter.

"The issue that we have--we think that Russell is busting his tail to do everything and he’s getting better. . . we have a little bit of a problem with Matt," Carroll said. "Matt’s still not full speed. Anybody that thinks, 'Let’s go with the other guy,' well he can’t practice yet. He could go in and throw it and make it through a game. He throws 15 throws a day a couple days a week, so that’s not really enough to get him ready in a game plan. . . So that’s not even an issue for us yet."

Seahawks’ Pete Carroll: Will choice of Russell Wilson get him fired?

Of all the quarterback battles coming into the 2012 NFL season, the Seattle Seahawks had one of the more peculiar competitions.  During the offseason the team managed to land Matt Flynn who was projected to be the starter ahead of incumbent Tarvaris Jackson.  Despite signing Flynn, the Seahawks took Wisconsin signal caller Russell Wilson in the third round of the NFL draft. ...

Seattle not making QB switch despite struggles

Despite the continued struggles of the Seattle Seahawks offense and the worst passing game in the NFL, Pete Carroll is not ready to make a switch from rookie Russell Wilson at quarterback. Any decision to perhaps go to backup Matt Flynn is also complicated by the Seahawks being unsure whether a sore elbow that limited Flynn at the end of the preseason would be fully able to handle...

Russell Wilson had a very rough outing this weekend versus the Rams

Russell Wilson had a rough go of it in Seattle’s 19-13 Week 4 loss to the Rams, completing 17-of-25 passes for just 160 yards, zero touchdowns and three interceptions.  Wilson was under constant pressure, Wilson was routinely flushed from the pocket, but only one of his three interceptions was his fault. Doug Baldwin let the ball get ripped out of his hands late in the second...

Moments in time…The Seattle Seahawks week that was

Silence of the lambs With everything going right in the Seahawks world going into Sunday’s divisional matchup with St. Louis, the Hawks sure picked a bad time to let their true colors show. Now the world can really see that the win the previous week was a fluke, and we are the the laughing stock of the NFL community. Sure, there are worse teams that us, but to ride high with...

Seahawks staying with Wilson as starting QB

Despite Seattle's offensive struggles in its first four games, the Seahawks are sticking with rookie Russell Wilson as their starting quarterback. Coach Pete Carroll told The News Tribune of Tacoma, Wash., that Matt Flynn, the team's big offseason acquisition, wasn't ready to play because of an elbow injury that has limited him in practice. But Carroll later backtracked...

Seahawks Sticking With Russell Wilson - Coach Pete Carroll…

Seahawks Sticking With Russell Wilson - Coach Pete Carroll confirmed that he’s sticking with Russell Wilson for now. Backup Matt Flynn says he’s ready to play through some elbow tendonitis, but Carroll is holding firm with the rookie. “We’re going with Russell right now,” he said. “He’s working his tail off to get it right.” Through four games, Wilson is averaging...

Seattle Seahawks: Week 5 NFL Power Rankings (#17)

Last week: 17 (+0) As they always do, the Seahawks fell flat on the road last week. Now there are calls for Russell Wilson’s job after his 3 pick performance (none of which were ruled touchdowns strangely) just a few weeks after he was the media darling who “beat the odds.” They’ve got a great defense and they’re great at home, but their offense isn’t very good and they...

The State of the Passing Game

Through three weeks of play, the Seahawks have showcased an impressive number of top-flight abilities.  One of the stoutest run defenses in the league?  Check.  An intimidating, physical secondary?  Check.  Great special teams play regardless of whether they’re on the giving or receiving end of things?  Check.  A pile-driver of a run game?  You better believe that’s a...

Seahawks: Quarter Season Stats

Already?? A quarter of the season is now in the books, and it’s time to take a gander at what the Seattle Seahawks have done so far.  Have they improved over last year? Are things moving forward or backward?  Are the Seahawks getting the attention they finally deserve? Lets start with the offense.  Last years starting QB was Tarvaris Jackson.  Jackson has since packed his...

The Seahawks’ two game winning streak came to a halt on the road today against NFC west rivals, the St. Louis Rams, with another close score of 19-13. The Seahawks offense appeared to make a statement today, finally getting a score drive together in the first series of the opening half. Russell Wilson spread the ball around, hooking up with both wide receivers Sydney Rice and Golden...

Seahawks MMQB: Miscues and missed opportunities as Seahawks lose 19-13

The better team won I should re-phrase that, the team that played better on Sunday won.  Hats off to the St. Louis Rams for the big divisional win.  The Rams coaching staff put together a great game plan that put the team in position to win. The players executed the plan and that is why they won.  On the other side of the field, the Seattle Seahawks entered the Edward Jones Dome...

Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll Says Team Is Going With QB Russell Wilson

Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll made a very Pete Carroll-esque move when he named Russell Wilson his starting quarterback before the season, despite a rocky start, Carroll's sticking with the rookie. "We're going with Russell right now," Carroll told The News Tribune on Monday. "He's working his tail off to get it right, and where all of the focus...

Seahawks vs. St Louis Rams: Things to love & hate from Sunday

Playing to their level The Seattle Seahawks went into St Louis on Sunday looking to make a name for themselves in the NFC West. After starting off the year with a heartbreaking loss at division rival Arizona, the Seahawks couldn’t afford to lose their second division game of the year. Leave it to the Seahawks, though, and they’ll surprise you in many ways. After looking stellar...
