After a horrible week one performance saw the Bills fall to the Jets 48-28, Buffalo returns to action this week ready to take on the Kansas City Chiefs. The last time the two teams faced off versus one another, the Bills had their way with the Chiefs as they won 41-7 in their season opener last year. The Bills hope to do the same on Sunday as they look to improve to 1-1.

Listed below are Queen City Sports staff picks for the Chiefs/Bills week 2 contest:

Robert Quinn: Bills 31-13

After being demolished in every facet of the game against the Jets, the Bills will have a strong showing in their home opener. Despite the loss of Fred Jackson, C.J. Spiller showed why he was the Bills’ No. 9 pick, and that trend should continue. The Chiefs have a strong defense, but their offense led by Matt Cassel isn’t anything special. I expect the Bills to hand out a beat down.

Brandon Hess: Bills 24-20

Last week proved once again that this team will only go as far as Ryan Fitzpatrick can take them, and he’ll be better this week against a secondary that Matt Ryan torched on the road in week 1.  I expect the Bills front four to redeem themselves for their no-show against the Jets and CJ Spiller to top the 100 yard mark for the second straight week in Fred Jackson’s absence.  Kansas City has a lot to prove as well coming off a disappointing home loss, but I think Buffalo gets the job done, Bills 24-20.

Mike Bundt: Bills 21-20

This game can literally go either way but I’m picking the Bills because I believe they’ll have a fire in them after the way they were handled last week by the Jets. The Bills must show more commitment to the run and use Spiller actively. Last year, Fitzpatrick torched the Chiefs with four touchdown passes. I don’t think you can expect a repeat of that again on Sunday so I look for Buffalo’s defense to come up big as they help the Bills secure the win.

Just in case you didn’t know, C.J. Spiller leads the NFL in rushing with 292 yards on only 29 carries. After taking over for an injured Fred Jackson just as he did at the end of 2011, he’s taking advantage of the opportunity. Fred Jackson had tears in his eyes as he headed to the locker room in Week 1. His hard work and dedication has always done him well, but after working so...

Bills RB Spiller ready for spotlight - again

C.J. Spiller is the first to admit his transition from star college running back to NFL rookie was much more difficult than he had imagined. But two years later, the former first round pick is rounding into form. Spiller, the ninth overall pick out of Clemson in the 2010 draft, will once again be thrust into the starting role in Buffalo's backfield when the Bills (0-1) host...

Buffalo Bills: Has C.J. Spiller Finally Arrived?

When Fred Jackson left what was a nightmare of an opening week for the Buffalo Bills with a knee injury, it appeared that things were quickly getting worse to begin the season. However, the one lone bright spot in a blowout loss was the play of third year running back C.J. Spiller who recorded his career best running the ball. But after yesterday’s performance, some in Buffalo are...

Fred Jackson out for at least a month: Fantasy Impact

Fred Jackson out for at least a month: Fantasy Impact By now we all have heard that Fred Jackson is expected to be out for more than a month, and with the Bills declining to sign anyone up to today it looks like Spiller will be counted on to handle the full workload with Tashard Choice backing him up. Spiller was effective last year when Jackson went down with an injury and posted...

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills: Five Things We Learned

1.) C.J. Spiller is a Bona Fide Superstar. The Bills raised some eyebrows when they took Spiller ninth overall in the 2010 draft despite already having a backfield that included Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson. The concerns seemed warranted after Spiller racked up just 667 yards from scrimmage (rushing and receiving) and 3 total TDs in his first 24 games as a member of the Bills....

Fitzpatrick, Spiller lead Bills in win

Ryan Fitzpatrick threw two touchdown passes, including a 49-yarder to Stevie Johnson, and Leodis McKelvin scored on an 88-yard punt return - the second longest in team history - in the Bills' home opener. Buffalo's high-priced defense had...

What to expect from the Bills in Week 2

While many so-called experts are quick to write off the Buffalo Bills as not living up to expectations, it’s clear there are some significant improvements that need to be made by the Bills when it comes to play calling, whether on offense or defense. With the home opener against the Kansas City Chiefs coming up this weekend, the Bills players and coaches surely do not want to disappoint...

Bills 35, Chiefs 17

ORCHARD PARK -- The Buffalo Bills relied on the hot running and receiving of C.J. Spiller and a defense that finally lived up to the hype to rout the Kansas City Chiefs, 35-17, at soldout Ralph Wilson Stadium on Sunday. Spiller rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries and caught three passes for 47 yards as the Bills (1-1) rebounded from last week's crushing loss...

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills: Hero and Zero of the Game

“Lifeless” would be the best word to describe the Kansas City Chiefs in Buffalo today.Sure C.J. Spiller is a fine running back, and has some elusiveness but the Chiefs made him look better than he is today. In Pittsburgh former Chiefs head coach, Todd Haley, had to enjoy keeping an eye on this game. While the Steelers prepared to face the Jets today, I am sure hot head Todd,...

Bills lose David Nelson for season, Fred Jackson for at least 4 weeks

The Bills didn’t just lose the opener in embarrassing fashion, 48-28; they also lost two players for an extended period of time. Wide receiver David Nelson tore his ACL and was placed on season ending IR. Nelson is a largely underwhelming talent, who caught 61 passes for 658 yards and 5 touchdowns last year, but the slot receiver was Ryan Fitzpatrick’s #2 target and plays at...

Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills Week 2 NFL Preview

Fred Jackson (knee) is out for at least a month after taking a gruesome hit by the Jets and wide receiver David Nelson is now out for the season after tearing his ACL. The Bills are off to about as brutal of a start as it gets in the National Football League, but luckily they are at home playing in a winnable game. The offense was horrific as Ryan Fitzpatrick could not complete a...

Bills, Lynch pin loss on Chiefs

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- There was a lot of head-scratching when the Buffalo Bills used the No. 9 overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft on C.J. Spiller. With Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch already on the depth chart and a roster full of questions to answer, running back seemed to be the last position Buffalo needed to address. Two games into Spiller’s third season, no one is scratching...
