A few days ago, I listed off all of the Vikings current free agents and said at the beginning of the post that I was sure I was missing a couple, especially with the recent signings of a few players.
It turns out that I was only missing one guy. Quarterback Patrick Ramsey.
While Ramsey is set to become a free agent, and likely won’t be back, some of you might be interested to know that the Vikings were willing to commit to newly signed quarterback Rhett Bomar for a longer period of time.
Apparently, when they signed Bomar it was for a three year contract.
Yes, I’m serious.
Bomar will join Joe Webb as the only Vikings quarterbacks on the roster (most likely) when the new league year starts, whenever that ends up being.
It is also interesting that newly signed receiver Juaquin Iglesias has not been on any lists of Vikings free agents, which suggest that the team has signed him at least through the 2011 season. I figured this was the case since Iglesias left Chicago’s practice squad right before the playoffs. He potentially could have made up to $149,000 just for riding the Bears bench throughout the playoffs. Players are all paid the same throughout the playoffs, so the further their team advances the more each player is paid. He would have at least received $38,000 for the divisional game.
