Rich Cimini of ESPN New York takes a look at the Jets quarterback position now that the offseason is about to begin. Cimini writes that the Jets are likely to go with a “short-term fix” while bringing in a young quarterback to develop in the coming years. He lists Tarvaris Jackson, Matt Flynn, Matt Moore and Alex Smith as potential options for the Jets, but admits that Smith is most likely “too rich for the Jets’ blood.“ Their current group of quarterbacks is largely underwhelming. Mark Sanchez is bascially guaranteed to be back after he was handed five-year, $58.25 million contract to make up for the Jets pursuit of Peyton Manning last year. Tim Tebow will be let go if they’re unable to find a trade partner and Cimini mentions that “it could be curtains for [Greg] McElroy” if they draft a quarterback this year. With limited cap space to work with, it seems very likely that the Jets will have to find a solution in this year’s draft. Sanchez has a decent shot at being the starter next year, but Tarvaris Jackson could be an option as well given that he’s unlikely to command high a salary as a free agent. We have the Jets taking North Carolina State QB Mike Glennon in the second-round of our 2013 NFL Mock Draft. The post Quarterback Options For The Jets appeared first on NFL Trade Rumors -.
