Found September 23, 2012 on Total Titans:
This game DESERVES a long recap, so I'll keep this one short, but the Titans beat the Lions, 44-41, in overtime at LP Field today to get their first win of the season. The Titans got 5 touchdowns, all on big plays, including long passes to Jared Cook and Nate Washington, plus a punt return score, a kickoff score, and a pick-6 that appeared to seal the win by putting them up 41-27 with only 76 seconds to play. The Lions quickly drove the field behind backup quarterback Shaun Hill, though, recovered an onside kick, and tied it on a Hail Mary on the final play of regulation. The Titans got the ball first in overtime and settled for Rob Bironas's third made field goal (after missing two earlier in the game), and held the Lions and Hill on a QB sneak inside the 10 as Jim Schwartz pulled off a gamble that failed. There's a lot to say, but Jake Locker made some big plays. The Lions didn't get a single sack. The defense mostly got shredded in the second half. The big ...

The Official Word: Lions/Titans See Worst Ball Spotting Ever

The Accused: The replacement officials working the Lions at Titans game. The Accusation: Ball spotted incorrectly during overtime. The Case: In a week overflowing with bad calls, I finally had to pick one and go with it. I chose this one simply because it might well make history.During the overtime period of the Lions/Titans game, the Tennessee Titans had the ball at the Tennessee...

Jim Schwartz: Lions had miscommunication, didn’t intend to go for it

The Detroit Lions lost to the Tennessee Titans in overtime on Sunday 44-41 after failing to convert a fourth down on a questionable decision. The Lions had a 4th and 1 from the Tennessee seven and were down 44-41. They could have attempted a field goal to tie the game and keep the overtime going. Instead, they ran a play and lost a yard on what appeared to be a quarterback sneak...

Raiola: 'I let a lot of people down'

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Dominic Raiola has played 12 years in the NFL and never had anything happen to him like the ending in Detroit Lions 44-41 overtime loss Sunday at Tennessee. With fourth-and-inches at the Titans 7-yard line, the Lions wanted to try to draw the defense off-sides before having to settle for a game-tying field goal. The only thing that could turn it into a disaster...

Jim Schwartz Monday press conference recap: Tennessee Titans edition

It was an ugly homecoming for Jim Schwartz in Tennessee, as the Titans pulled out a shocking win against the Detroit Lions, sending them to 1-2. As expected, there were plenty of issues to dissect this Monday, including the mysterious decision making in overtime, the inability of the special teams to contain kicks and the defense's porous nature, which allowed plenty of big...

Nate Washington makes ridiculous catch (Video)

The Tennessee Titans wide receiver made an unbelievable catch, reaching over the back of Detroit Lions cornerback Jacob Lacey. This 71-yard touchdown has to be one of the best catches this year.

Detroit Lions vs. Tennessee Titans: Five things to watch

Though the Detroit Lions lost a tough game last week to the San Francisco 49ers, there is a mighty opportunity to rebound well this week. The Tennessee Titans are the next team on the docket, and have been struggling mightily at 0-2. This game is once again on the road, but an entirely different feel exists than last week.  It's football time in the Music City, and despite...

Replacement Refs phantom 27-yard penalty on the Detroit Lions in overtime

The replacement refs had another bad weekend, and when I was watching the Lions game, I thought that this was the wrong call, but I was far too worried about the next play and didn’t think it over.  The way they described it, it seemed they were marking the penalty from the spot of the foul because of the incomplete pass, but what they really did was assess the Lions a 27-yard...

Lions expect Bill Bentley and Chris Houston back, not Louis Delmas

The Lions’ defense has been pretty awful through 2 games, particularly through the air, ranking 22nd in YPA, allowing 37 of 56 for 374 yards, 3 touchdowns, and no interceptions. That might not sound awful, but neither of the quarterbacks they’ve faced, Alex Smith or Sam Bradford, are really that great. That’s also in spite of one of the best pass rushes in the league. The...

Juan Eye On Brandon Pettigrew

The Titans D is laughable VS TEs Juan…   Brandon Pettigrew hasn’t been fantastic this season, but in PPR leagues he has double digit points in both week 1 and week 2.  This week he gets the Titans who have allowed 10 receptions per game to opposing TEs, not to mention that they have allowed 5 TDs in 2 games. The Lions pass offense needs to back on track and they face a ‘Get...

Calvin Johnson Finally Reaches Pay Dirt in Week 3

Lions receiver Calvin Johnson finally got in the end zone in Week 3, but the throw didn't come from Matthew Stafford, it came from Shaun Hill. Hill replaced Stafford after the latter exited with a leg injury.Fantasy Spin:Johnson was a beast as expected, catching 10 balls for 164 yards and a touchdown. Megatron hasn't been hurt by Stafford's fantasy struggles at all this...

Matthew Stafford’s status for Vikings game up in the air after leg injury

During yesterday’s 44-41 Lions OT loss at the hands of the hapless Tennessee Titans, Matthew Stafford was taken out of the game during the fourth quarter with what was later revealed to be a leg muscle strain. Although not considered serious, Stafford was set to undergo an MRI Monday and with the results not officially known, CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora tweeted some potentially...

NFL News: Week 3 Injury Report

If Revis is lost for the season, it may kill the Jets playoff hopes Matthew Stafford QB, Detroit Lions: As if a 1-2 start wasn’t bad enough for the Detroit Lions, their biggest concern now might be the health of Matthew Stafford. Stafford left the game with just over a minute left in the 4th quarter, after getting hit on a throw to Brandon Pettigrew. What made the injury more interesting...
