PLAYERS: Quinton Coples
TEAMS: New York Jets
The New York Jets made Quinton Coples the 16th overall draft pick in 2012 and if it wasn't for Marvin Austin being suspended he may have never had the chance. The former North Carolina defensive end benefited from defensive tackle Marvin Austin being suspended for the entire 2011 season, but it gave him the shot he needed to propel himself into the NFL.

New York Jets Fact Or False: Run Game Edition

One of the most intriguing New York Jets story lines heading into the summer is whether or not the Jets will be able to, once again, establish themselves as an elite rushing offense. During Rex Ryan’s first two seasons as Head Coach of the Jets, they were ranked 1st and 4th in rushing offense, respectively. Last season, they dipped to the 22nd best rushing team in the NFL. This...

LaRon Landry absent for Jets’ OTAs

LaRon Landry was the 6th overall pick of the 2007 NFL Draft, but when he refused to get surgery on his Achilles, recommended by Redskins doctors, the Redskins were content to let him go. Because of fears about his Achilles, Landry drew little to no interest on the open market, except from the incredibly safety needy New York Jets. However, the Jets may wish they hadn’t signed him...

Sanchez outplays Tebow at Jets' OTAs

On the first day of what will surely be many, many months of Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow quarterbacking comparisons leading up to the regular season— Sanchez outplayed Tebow on day one of their first head-to-head competition open to the media. While the New York Jets held their third OTA Thursday morning, it was the first look at the Tebow-Sanchez dynamic on the football field...

Tim Tebow Manages To Blow Up Twitter With Back-To-Back INTs – In Practice

Gotta believe Sanchez has INT bounties on Tebow after learning this morning that Baby Jesus went back-to-back in the INT department during his first OTA practice with the Jets. Seriously, wouldn’t you throw some coin to the defense if you were Mark Sanchez? $5,000 per INT. $10,000 if you rip Tebow in a post-practice interview with WFAN. Maybe drop a “Mark Sanchez is looking sharp”...

Westhoff, a bone cancer survivor, was in Indianapolis recently visiting his son when he heard a sound in his leg - the same one in which a titanium prosthesis was inserted in February 2008. The 64-year-old Westhoff had a malignant tumor found...

Jets’ Kenrick Ellis will only serve 45 days in jail

Jets’ backup nose tackle and 2011 3rd round pick Kenrick Ellis was sentenced to 90 days in jail last week for assault charges in an incident that occurred while he was still at Hampton University. After appeal, that sentence has been cut to 45 days, beginning June 15th. That puts him in position to only miss some of Training Camp and none of the preseason or regular season. The...

Jets sign RB Vakapuna

Fullback Fui Vakapuna signed a one-year deal with the Jets. Vakapuna a powerful blocker who fits best as a lead blocker could be used as a situational runner in power formations and around the goal line, where Shonn Greene and Joe McKnight are unproven. Vakapuna (6-0, 257) was a seventh-round pick in 2009 but was waived by the Bengals at the end of training camp. He's been...
