Reports came out last week that Andre Johnson requested a trade and that he’s not committing to suiting up to start the season. Last week, Johnson commented on the situation with NFL Network after being asked if he would start, and he said “I don’t know, I can’t answer that question. Hopefully we’ll see what happens. Training Camp is three weeks away.” Johnson continued his comments on the situation, saying that ”I haven’t been public about anything, I just choose not to talk publicly about it. It’s in-house and that’s the way I choose to keep it. I’m not a big media guy, so I refuse to talk about it.” John McClain of the Houston Chronicle shared his thoughts on the situation, and expects Johnson to remain with the Texans. “Johnson, one of the best receivers in NFL history, will not be traded for several reasons. The Texans want him to finish his career in Houston. They know they are a better team with him. And they don’t want to set a precedent for similar situations that might develop in the future,” McClain said. It remains to be seen what will happen with Johnson, but for now, let’s hope McClain is correct and believe his words that Johnson will stay.
