PLAYERS: Ron Bartell
TEAMS: St. Louis Rams
Raiders starting left cornerback Ron Bartell suffered a broken left shoulder blade Monday night against San Diego and will be out for at least four weeks, ESPN is reporting.

Bartell reportedly will not have to undergo surgery and was scheduled to be examined by a specialist.

During his weekly press conference early Monday afternoon, Raiders coach Dennis Allen said Bartell was undergoing an MRI.

“Bartell has a shoulder injury,” Allen said. “I'm not sure the extent to the shoulder injury.”

Bartell suffered a season-ending injury in the first game last year with the Rams, breaking a small bone in his neck. Bartell, who signed a one-year contract with the Raiders, was injured Monday night against San Diego midway through the second quarter.

St. Louis Rams: 2012 Week 2 NFL Power Rankings (#12)

Last week: 12 (+0) Record: 0-1 And here’s the other half of the controversial prediction. On one hand, I nailed the Rams/Lions game. The Rams showed they were a better team than last year on both sides of the ball. On the other hand, my prediction of the Rams in the playoff only makes sense if the 49ers don’t prove me wrong. If Alex Smith improbably becomes a true franchise quarterback...

Gibson taking advantage of clean slate

ST. LOUIS Brandon Gibson is oblivious to the tectonic shift around him, and that might be good for a guy tossed into the pressure cooker of having to prove himself again. Clean slate. No memories. Just play. I try not to worry about it, said Gibson, in his fourth season as a St. Louis Rams wide receiver, when asked about job-security risks as a Billy DevaneySteve Spagnuolo holdover...

Titus Young was benched during Rams game for head-butting Janoris Jenkins

Titus Young is a player who many have said has breakout potential this season, but that will all depend on his attitude. The second-year receiver caught only one pass for 14 yards against the Rams on Sunday, but his lack of production was due in large part to the fact that Young only played in the first half. Detroit head coach Jim Schwartz benched Young at the end of the first...

Tackle Saffold back on field for Rams

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- St. Louis Rams offensive tackle Rodger Saffold had very limited duty in practice Wednesday, three days after being carted off the field with a significant neck injury that landed him in a Detroit hospital. That was enough for worried teammates. "It's great to see him out there," quarterback Sam Bradford said. "It's extremely scary anytime...

Rams Place C Scott Wells On New IR

Rams C Scott Wells suffered a fractured foot and will be placed on the "designated for return" injured reserve, head coach Jeff Fisher said Monday. Wells started in Sunday’s loss to the Lions in his first game with St. Louis. Robert Turner replaced Wells at center. The new I.R. “designated to return” rule for players with major injuries allows Wells to return to a...

Danny Amendola Leads St. Louis in Receiving Week 1

Rams receiver Danny Amendola led the team in Week 1 with five catches and 70 yards receiving.Fantasy Spin:Amendola caught 85 passes in 2010 but he missed all but one game last season with an injury. He'll be relevant all season in PPR leagues since he's Sam Bradford's favorite target.

Taking Lions to wire big step forward for Rams

Losing in the final seconds at Detroit could have been another blow to the downtrodden St. Louis Rams and their beat-down fan base. It was actually a huge step forward. The Rams lost for the 66th time in their last 81 games. But it has not dimmed the Rams' newfound competitive fire under first-year coach Jeff Fisher. In 11 of their 14 losses last year, the Rams faced double...

Rams run out of gas in the Motor City

So close and yet so far is the recurring nightmare of the St. Louis Rams, who lost a nail biter at Ford Field in Detroit on Sunday.  The Rams appeared to be on the cusp of victory against the heavily favored Detroit Lions, but eight minutes before the game was over, the Rams completely ran [...]

Rams Re-Sign OG Quinn Ojinnaka; C Scott Wells Headed To IR

Quinn Ojinnaka, who started all four preseason games at left guard for the Rams before being released, has re-signed with the team. Ojinnaka fills the roster spot created by the designation of center Scott Wells to the injured reserve/designated for return list. Wells suffered a fractured left foot in the season opener against Detroit. Under the new "designated for return...

NFL's First Female Referee Breaks Up Fake Fight Between Cortland Finnegan, Stephen Tulloch (Photo)

The NFL and NFL Referees Association have still not come to terms on a deal. But luckily for coaches, players and fans everywhere, there are replacements roaming the sidelines to keep things in order. After the final whistle blew at Ford Field on Sunday, Rams guard Harvey Dahl and Lions defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh got caught up in a bit of a shoving match. The tussle was quickly...

League Admits Late-Game Clock Error In Rams/Lions Game

A late-game glitch in clock management Sunday in Detroit was costly to the Rams in their last-second 27-23 loss to the Lions. With 2 minutes 45 seconds to play, Rams quarterback Sam Bradford scrambled out of the pocket and slid feet first near the St. Louis sideline, in-bounds. A television copy of the game broadcast showed no official signal time out, yet the game clock was stopped...

Rams OT Rodger Saffold Practices On Wednesday

First Female Official Breaks Up Fake Fight In Lions Vs Rams Game

If not for the "fake fight photo," Shannon Eastin's debut as an NFL official would have gone down without note, which as anyone who's ever been a referee will tell you, is the preferred outcome. Yet Sunday's game featuring the Lions and Rams ended with a small scrum, as Rams guard Harvey Dahl pushed down Lions tackle Ndamukong Suh, while players from both...
