It seemed to be the ultimate rub-it-in indignity. Already leading by 24 points as the third quarter was winding down, the Baltimore Ravens lined up for a chip-shot field goal on one of the few times the Raiders defense managed to get off the field on third down. Holder Sam Koch, however, took the snap from center, then veered to his left, and ran into the end zone for a touchdown that caught the Raiders special teams unit flat-footed and unprepared. Kind of like the Raiders played most of the afternoon in a 55-20 loss to the Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium. But if the Raiders were angry about Ravens coach John Harbaugh running up the score, they did a good job hiding it after the game, realizing they have myriad problems to deal with at 3-6 in the AFC West. Coach Dennis Allen and Harbaugh had a brief, routine post-game exchange and Raiders players held their tongues. "Nothing surprised me," Allen said. "Our job was to stop them, and we have to stop them.&qu...

Raiders Possibly Shopping RB Darren McFadden During The Offseason?

Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports writes that the Raiders are in a “brutal situation” regarding RB Darren McFadden. McFadden missed Sunday’s game against Baltimore because of an ankle sprain, but his 2012 season isn’t anywhere near the expectations that many had for him back in August. A lot of his struggles can be attributed to the team’s zone-blocking scheme, which they changed...

Paranoia Or Planned? Ravens Sign QB Dennis Dixon Back To Their Practice Squad

This morning I posted about how the Pittsburgh Steelers might consider quarterback Dennis Dixon as a practice squad option in light of the shoulder injury to Ben Roethlisberger, as not only would it give them the extra arm needed to run the scout team, but they also might be able to get a little information about the Baltimore Ravens offense in addition. You no longer have to worry...

Ravens tight ends Dennis Pitta had his best game since Week 3 Sunday against the Raiders, catching five passes for 67 yards and a touchdown.Fantasy Spin:Pitta looked to be emerging as a potential TE1 in the first three weeks of the season but his production has fallen off a cliff since then. Last time the Ravens had a home game Jacoby Jones returned a kickoff for a touchdown. The Ravens are back at home this afternoon and Jones has returned another kickoff for a touchdown. Jones’ second kick return touchdown of the season set the franchise record for points in a game. The previous high was 48 which was set twice, against Green Bay in 2005 and Detroit in 2009. Ngata was active, but didn’t play

The Ravens have been banged up for most of the season. It started when Terrell Suggs tore his Achilles’ tendon in the offseason and continued with the injuries Haloti Ngata, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Lardarius Webb. If there was a ever a week for some of the younger players to get in the game, Sunday’s thumping of the Oakland Raiders was the game. The only truly troubling part of...

Injured running backs Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson have been placed on the inactive list by the Oakland Raiders for Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens. Raiders coach Allen says defense 'unacceptable'

It's the run defense one game, the pass defense the next and the running game almost every week that is holding the Oakland Raiders back. The problems keep mounting almost as fast as the point total for the opposition. A week after being gashed on the ground by Doug Martin and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Raiders were taken apart through the air by Joe Flacco and the Baltimore...
