Oakland Raiders DT Tommy Kelly expects to be released before the start of the free agency period on Tuesday. “The writing is on the wall,” Kelly said, via Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle. “The team is going in another direction. I’m ready for the next chapter. … They’re ready, too.” Kelly, 32, signed a seven-year, $50.125 million contract back in 2008. He has base salaries of $6.5 million in 2013 and another $7 million in 2014. As things stand right now, his 2013 cap number is $4.8 million, so it would make sense for the Raiders to free up some additional cap space by cutting him loose. Along with Kelly, DE Richard Seymour DE Matt Shaughnessy, DT Desmond Bryant and  DE Andre Carter are all set to become free agents this Tuesday. Carson Palmer just about done in Oakland?

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network feels like there’s a good chance Carson Palmer will decline a pay cut and force the Raiders to release him.  He would then be able to go to a team of his choice. A more likely scenario in my mind is that Palmer sees the writing on the wall, would decline to take a pay cut, and join a mostly dormant free-agent market as the biggest name on it. The Raiders could...

Raiders among teams with can't-miss first round draft picks

Raiders among teams with can't-miss first round draft picks Nobody wants to get it wrong on a first round draft choice.  The sad reality for teams across the NFL is that it's happened in the past and will continue to happen as long as the league is alive and well.  The truth of the matter is that perennial playoffs teams and teams with a solid core of skill players...

(PDT) on the next Tuesday, March 12th, and the Oakland Raiders will have 17 unrestricted (UFA) and two restricted (RFA) free agents to deal with. Twelve of them are defensive players. Here’s the complete list: QB Matt Leinart (UFA/Age: 29): Signed a one-year deal in 2012 to back [...]

Raiders Could Be Getting Closer To Releasing QB Carson Palmer

Ian Rapoport of NFL.com believes there’s a good chance that the Raiders will part ways with QB Carson Palmer if he’s unwilling to take a pay cut in the next few days. Palmer, 33, is set to make a base salary of $13 million next season and with plenty already being made about the Raiders’ terrible financial situation, there appears to be a chance that they could move forward...

Raiders Jacoby Ford on the road back from a foot injury: "I plan to do the whole nine yards this year, catch, return kickoffs and return punts"

Jacoby Ford is a very fast man, matter of fact at the 2010 NFL Combine, he clocked a 4.28 40. Ford was drafted by the Raiders in Round 4 with the 108th pick overall in the 2010 NFL Draft. Ford has flashed big play potential, but injuries have kept the potent speedster sidelined. A foot injury Ford suffered in November of 2011 forced the receiver to have surgery, and he re-injured...

Report: Raiders May Release Carson Palmer

Something may be going on in Oakland.  We’ve been seeing a lot of Terrelle Pryor on the t.v. screens, and not much of Carson Palmer. The writing could be on the wall for a possible change at the quarterback position.  Ian Rapoport and The Rap Sheet is reporting that Palmer who is due $13 million in 2013, could be released if he doesn’t restructure his contract. The Raiders...

Tommy Kelly expected to be released by Raiders: ‘The writing is on the wall’

If Tommy Kelly is to be believed, don’t expect to see him in a Raiders uniform next season. The Raiders this offseason have been actively trying to shed salary to clear cap space via contract restructuring and giving players their outright releases. Kelly, who hasn’t heard from the team since the end of season, told the Chronicle’s Vic Tafur he expects to fall under the latter...

Oakland Raiders Enter 2013 NFL Free Agency With More Ammunition

Photo Credit: Raiders.com The Oakland Raiders continued to create more salary cap space, saving more than $5 million by restructuring Tyvon Branch‘s contract on Thursday, per Pro Football Talk.  The Raiders reduced the strong safety’s $6 million base salary to $715,000 for the upcoming season, while the team tacked on two seasons to the four-year contract Branch signed in 2012...

First You Get The Drones Then You Get The Facial Recognition Technology At Oakland Raiders Games

“Calling all cars. Calling all cars. Be on the lookout for a fat, silver and black guy with spikes wearing a silver and black helmet, silver and black jersey, Mardi Gras beads and Doc Martins. Last seen in section 105 heading east. He’s bad.” The Oakland Coliseum or whatever the pit where the Raiders and A’s play is called isn’t a cafe so it’s probably off Rand Paul...

Some good, some bad for Booty in first game

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. Next Knuckler Josh Booty got his first taste of the real thing Sunday. Booty threw 28 pitches, about half knuckleballs, in the Diamondbacks' "B" game against a team of Giants minor leaguers on Sunday morning. It was the first time Booty faced opposing hitters since winning the MLB Networks reality-show competition that gave the winner a spot in D...

Oakland Raider’s Offseason Report

2012 Season Review: The Raiders continued their spiral that has been going on for over a decade now. Ever since the Super Bowl against the Tampa Bay Bucs in 2002 the Raiders have been in free fall. The good news for the Raiders is they are finally going a year without changing head coaches. They hired Dennis Allen last season and his first season did not go as planned in Oakland...
