Found August 18, 2012 on Down and Distance:
Going into this week, a report surfaced that Kevin Kolb was no longer the favorite in landing the Arizona Cardinals Starting Quarterback job. He would however start in Friday’s preseason game at home against the Raiders where he looked as lost as a puppy in the big city. Kolb’s first drive looked halfway decent – with a lot of help from Cardinals RB Ryan Williams – as Kolb tossed two little dump-offs to the side when he was in trouble. Kolb was pulled from the game, ending the night going 3/6 for 22 yards. A showing in which was not impressive. He was sacked several times during the night, and shortly after getting dropped for a safety, Raiders Defensive Tackle Tommy Kelly ran to the bench screaming “That boy’s scared!” I too, would be scared if I didn’t have an offensive line to protect me – losing another Tackle, Levi Brown to a potential Season-Ending Pectoral tear. Kolb has been less than impressive during his tenure as a Cardinal, and many expect John Skelton to get the nod once the season starts. I also heard that Colt McCoy or Tarvaris Jackson will be available, it might be a good idea for the Cards to reach out if so. The Arizona Cardinals have made a mistake with QB Kevin Kolb

The Arizona Cardinals have made a mistake in acquiring QB Kevin Kolb. The mistake has been made, the franchise overpaid for him and it’s simply time to move on now. I was going to give Kolb the benefit of the doubt last season as he joined the team in a very truncated offseason and dealt with some injury issues. After watching three Cardinals games this preseason, the fact is,...

Tommy Kelly Rips Kevin Kolb, Calls Cardinals Quarterback 'Scared,' 'Skittish'

Kevin Kolb isn't really that good. No, it's not because he royally messed with my fantasy football team last season. It's because his production simply hasn't been there, despite the quarterback receiving a nice payday from the Cardinals prior to last season. Raiders defensive tackle Tommy Kelly thinks there's some glaring reasons for Kolb's struggles at the...

Kelly elaborated after the game. ...

Kevin Kolb is fighting back despite lackluster performances

The Cardinals are struggling with a well documented issue. They still don't have a starting quarterback on their roster, and picking one from their current options is proving to be a true chore for head coach Ken Whisenhunt. Kevin Kolb didn't help his own efforts last night, completing just 3 of 6 attempts for 22 yards, and oh-by-the-way, Kolb was safetied as well. ...

Cardinals QB Kolb: "Scared? Scared of what?'

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb responded to criticism from Oakland Raiders defensive lineman Tommy Kelly, who said after Friday night's exhibition game that Kolb is "scared." Kolb was sacked three times, including once in the end zone by Kelly. "Anytime anybody gets close to him he starts looking at the refs," Kelly said. "As a defensive...

Raiders' Kelly rips Kolb after Cards' 31-27 win

It was bad enough for Arizona quarterback Kevin Kolb that Oakland's Tommy Kelly sacked him in the end zone for a safety. What the Raiders defensive end had to say about Kolb after Oakland's 31-27 loss to the Cardinals Friday night probably hurt much worse. ''He is skittish. He is scared back there,'' Kelly said. ''Anytime anybody gets close to him...

Skelton hasn't won job, but Kolb has lost it

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- We cant help but wonder if Kevin Kolb compared notes with the Raiders' Matt Leinart on Friday night at University of Phoenix Stadium. One presumed-then-deposed Cardinals starting quarterback advising another. Theres no point in denying it anymore because theres no way to defend Kolb anymore in his struggle to keep the job for which he was acquired. There is...

Tommy Kelly on Kevin Kolb: “That boy’s scared”

AP Friday night was another night for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb to prove he belongs in the NFL as a starter.  Well, things didn’t go so well for the third straight week. The good news is that Kolb didn’t throw any interceptions, but he was only 3 of 6 for 22 yards.  Kolb had a hard time dealing with the pressure that the Raiders brought and he ended up getting...

Tommy Kelley on the Oakland defense: “People are going to have a hard time dealing with us”

Defensive tackle Tommy Kelly believes that the Raiders defense isn’t the same one that finished 2011. The Oakland defense was 29th in the NFL in yards allowed and 31st in giving up touchdowns. New Head Coach Dennis Allen is installing a new system and Kelly likes what he has seen so far. “To me, the biggest change is probably Dennis Allen and defensive coordinator Jason Tarver...

John Skelton Will Start Thursday For Arizona

John Skelton will start at quarterback in Arizona's fourth preseason game Thursday.Fantasy Spin:Skelton's competition, Kevin Kolb, has been awful this preseason (5-of-15, 47 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT), leaving Skelton as the favorite to take the starting job. That bodes well for star receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who caught 42 passes for 753 yards and six touchdowns in the eight games...

Why the Cardinals must talk Kurt Warner out of retirement

It seems like a long time ago Kurt Warner led the Arizona Cardinals to their first Super Bowl when you look at the state of the team today. It also seems not so long ago that Larry Fitzgerald’s fantasy value was at the peak of his career looking at the team today. The Arizona Cardinals [...]
