According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, even though the Oakland Raiders decided to suspend linebacker Rolando McClain instead of releasing him right away after his on the field confrontation with head coach Jim Schwartz, he could still end up getting released. Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain, a 2010 first-round pick, is completing his two-game, team-issued suspension on Sunday and is eligible to return to the club on Monday. However, this suspension could well be the first step to releasing the former eighth overall pick, whom sources confirmed was sent away from the team after engaging in a very loud and volatile argument with coach Dennis Allen a few weeks back, during the individual portion of practice. McClain has not practiced with the team since. The former Alabama star is no stranger to off-field issues as well, including a December 2011 arrest for assault, and several current and former teammates say privately that McClain is a difficult individual to play with and b...

The Oakland Raiders announced several moves to their roster today, as the players reported back to practice following the loss against the Broncos last Thursday. McClain reinstated from suspension, future uncertain

Rolando McClain is back, but for how long? The Raiders middle linebacker served a two-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team and was reinstated to the 53-man roster. McClain was not present at practice, however, as a press release noted, "McClain is not required to return to the team until he has an opportunity to meet with coach (Dennis) Allen." Allen...

Raiders reinstate LB McClain

The Oakland Raiders reinstated linebacker Rolando McClain to the active roster from the reserve/suspended by club list and promoted cornerback Chimdi Chekwa from the practice squad, the team announced Monday. Oakland released cornerback Ron Bartell and fullback Owen Schmitt to make room for McClain and Chekwa. McClain was suspended for two games in late November by coach Dennis...

Raiders DT Richard Seymour Will Become A Free Agent Following The Season

Vic Tafur reports that Raiders DT Richard Seymour will become an unrestricted free agent following the conclusion of the 2012 season. Oakland restructured Seymour’s contract back in March to free up some additional cap space, but by doing so they voided the remaining four years and $30 million still remaining on his deal. Seymour, 33, has been hampered by a hamstring injury...

Cornerback Ron Bartell released by Raiders

Ron Bartell signed a 1-year deal with the Raiders in the off-season after he was cut by the Rams. He spent seven years in St. Louis. He played in only 1 game in 2011 because of a neck injury and then suffered a broken shoulder blade in the first game in 2012 and landing him on injured reserve with the designation to return. He missed 7 games, however, he started the last five for...

Raiders DT Richard Seymour has contract voided, will become a Free Agent at seasons end

The Raiders had a hard time getting under the salary cap heading into the 2012 season. One big reason they were able to do so was the restructuring of defensive tackle Richard Seymour’s deal. When the deal was done in March, it was announced as a five-year extension worth $37.5 Million that saved the team roughly $7 million for the season in cap hits. What wasn’t announced however...

Terrelle Pryor Will Get Playing Time During Raiders Final Three Games

At 3-10 and in the midst of another disappointing season, the Raiders don’t have a lot to lose at this point. That’s why Oakland head coach Dennis Allen is thinking about giving second-year quarterback Terrelle Pryor some playing time over their final three games of the season. Allen said the team wants to get Pryor some in-game experience, but made sure not to insinuate that...

An open letter to Dennis Allen requesting he play Terrelle Pryor immediately

Dear Mr. Allen, I understand why Pryor hasn’t been active until late in the season – I really do.  I know you were saddled with him after the Raiders gave up a pick in the 3rd round for him and while he’s just the kind of guy that Al Davis liked – big, strong, fast and extremely athletic – he’s incredibly unpolished. I know you likely don’t think he’s the...
