Taiwan Jones' career as a running back has yet to really take off for the Oakland Raiders.
Now, general manager Reggie McKenzie is contemplating putting into motion something Jones offered up late last year - a move across the ball to cornerback.
Im pushing for cornerback, McKenzie said Friday from the NFL combine via ESPN.com. I think it fits his skill set. I think were going to see how he does there.
Such a switch won't be easy at the highest level, but the Raiders, who have a notable history of doing things their own way, believe Jones can make the switch because of the ability he has shown as a tackler on special teams.

Raiders RB Taiwan Jones moving to cornerback
Taiwain Jones has struggled to make his mark in the Raiders backfield in the two years he’s been with the team. Jones has the speed to excel at the position but it sorely lacks the size at 5-foot-10, 197 pounds and has struggled staying healthy. And he’s also been firmly in the shadows of Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson (even Marcel Reece) on the depth chart.
But now Jones is...
Raiders should trade down in the 2013 NFL Draft
The Oakland Raiders will get to pick 3rd overall in the 2013 NFL draft, but with the immense depth of defensive linemen in this year’s draft; should the Raiders trade the 3rd pick to move down? The Raiders have a lot of needs including defensive tackles and defensive ends.
That happens to be the position most draft experts see the Raiders taking with the 3rd overall pick, but...

The Raiders are currently $2.4 million over the salary cap. If they release Palmer they will save...

Dennis Allen Says QB Carson Palmer To Remain Raiders Starter In 2013
The media gets paid to dredge up controversy and they have done just that with regard to Carson Palmer and Terrelle Pryor.
This has gone so far it has the national media completely confused as to what the Raiders will do at the quarterback position. Some of them had a chance to ask Dennis Allen himself on Friday. He was asked point blank if Carson Palmer was the Raiders starter...
Oakland Raiders 2013 Offseason Preview
Breathe in and breathe out. Breathe in and breathe out. It’s hard to even think about the chaotic state the Oakland Raiders are in without having to take relaxing deep breaths. Oakland is one of the few teams that finished in third place in their division, but is in a much uglier situation than the one team they finished ahead of. If you are telling me that you would rather take...
Raiders Could Be Parting Ways With DT Tommy Kelly
Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that the Oakland Raiders are considering releasing DT Tommy Kelly.
Kelly, 32, signed a seven-year, $50.125 million contract back in 2008. He has base salaries of $6.5 million in 2013 and another $7 million in 2014. As things stand right now, his 2013 cap number is $4.8 million, so it would make sense for the Raiders to free up some...
