Oakland Raiders strong safety Tyvon Branch left in the first quarter with a leg injury. Branch got hurt rushing Jacksonville quarterback Chad Henne. He was attended to by trainers on the field before being helped off and brought straight to the locker room. The team announced Branch will not return to the game. Branch is one of only two returning starters from last year on Oakland's defense. He has missed just two games in the past five seasons. Brandian Ross replaced Branch in the game. --- AP NFL website:

Tyvon Branch’s injury is “significant”

In the Raiders win against Jacksonville they may have suffered a major blow to their secondary. Safety Tyvon Branch suffered an ankle injury that Head Coach Dennis Allen described as “significant.” “Tyvon Branch injured his ankle,” said Allen. “That looks to be a significant injury. We’ll find out more later.” Safeties Brandian Ross and Usama...

Al Davis and Terrelle Pryor teach a lesson to the Raiders and their fans:

Somewhere in that house of thrills in the sky, Al Davis is smiling.  For short spurts the mystique of the Raiders was back.  His last draft pick was Terrelle Pryor and on Sunday he showed a lot of people why Mr. Davis wanted him.  Mr. Davis would be even more proud of his attitude.      Looking back in Oakland in 1979, You would have thought the sky was falling.  After their...

A New Era for the Oakland Raiders Run Defense?

The biggest weakness for the Oakland Raiders over the last dreadful decade has been their run defense. Reggie McKenzie hired Dennis Allen as the Raiders first defensive minded head coach since John Madden because of Allen’s hybrid defensive schemes. Last year’s Raiders defense was once again atrocious which is why the Raiders have brought in 9 new starters on defense. While...

Final Grades Jaguars v.s. Raiders, Week 2:

Offense:Darren McFadden again ran hard but this time there were some holes to run through.  He looked quick and hit the holes hard.  He ran for 129 yards on 19 carries.  Rashad Jennings and Marcel Reece also looked good.  The offensive line did a good job run blocking against the struggling Jags.   This was a good week to work on the passing game but the Raiders didn't...

Oakland Raiders win home opener

The Oakland Raiders came through for their fans last night, beating the Jacksonville Jaguars 19-9. How did they manage this win? Who were some key players that showed impressive skill in the game? What does this win forecast about the rest of the Raiders’ season? How did Terrelle Pryor match up against the Jacksonville defense? For me, the game on Sunday was pretty sloppy. There...

McFadden, Raiders run past Jaguars 19-9

Darren McFadden ran for 129 yards and Oakland's defense held Jacksonville out of the end zone until the closing minutes, as the Raiders won their home opener 19-9 over the Jaguars on Sunday. Terrelle Pryor ran for 50 yards and threw for 126 in his first home start for the Raiders (1-1), and Marcel Reece scored on an 11-yard run to help Oakland bounce back from last week'...

What up RaiderNation? Welcome to this week’s edition of My Two Cents, with your favorite senior citizen Raider fan, Old Timer. Charles Woodson Leaps Over A Really Big Human Being To Make This Tackle

Earlier we showed you William Moore’s bid for Tackle of the Year. Well, Mr. Moore was one-upped during the later games today by Charles Woodson who leapt over an offensive lineman to drag down Maurice Jones-Drew. [@AthleteSwag] Article found on: Next Impulse Sports

Terrelle Pryor blasts Ohio State for failing to embrace him

Oakland Raiders quarterback Terelle Pryor still holds hard feelings toward Ohio State for the way the school has failed to embrace him since his premature departure in 2011. After notching a 19-9 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, Pryor told the Columbus Dispatch that he currently has no relationship with his former school, and it doesn't appear he will anytime...

Report: Raiders QB Terrelle Pryor Says Ohio State Doesn’t Accept Him

Ohio State seems notorious for being great to players when they need them and then distancing themselves as soon as the relationship goes south. We saw the debacle that was Maurice Clarett and now we get to see something similar with Terrelle Pryor. CBS Sports is reporting that Pryor may not exactly be on the best of terms with his former school. After a win against Jacksonville...

The Oakland Raiders Preview: The Jacksonville Jaguars

Looking at the matchup between the Oakland Raiders and the Jacksonville Jaguars, you would have to wonder what the NFL scheduling committee thought as they realized this match would have to happen this year. Both franchises have a well-documented history of ineptitude when it comes to drawing fans to their home games. According to the New York Times, the Raiders were well on their...

Orlando TV Station Feels Awful For Airing Jaguars Games

This might be a new low.  For the Jaguars that is, maybe the TV station as well.  A local CBS affiliate issued an in-game apology for airing Jaguars vs. Raiders, a local team game, as opposed to Giants vs. Broncos. You know your team sucks when it is considered an inconvenience to watch them play a game.  The apology was well deserved as Jacksonville put up another poor performance...

Raiders Run Over Jacksonville 19-9: Five Things We Learned

This wasn’t a pretty ballgame. While the Raiders appeared to be a team that could do no wrong running the football, it really wasn’t a great game. For the second straight week, the Jaguars looked inept trying to score. The defense held the Raiders to 19 points and the team scored its first touchdown of the season, but there is still so much work to do.Let the talk about the first...
