Edwards, 30, failed to crack the Chicago Bears roster out of training camp this year. Over the past three years Edwards has attempted just two regular season passes. The Raiders worked out Edwards in October and the Atlanta Falcons took a look at him in November but neither signed him. Edwards has completed 60.6 percent of his passes in his career for 6,033 yards, 26 touchdowns and 30 interceptions.

Chicago Bears waste money on Jay Cutler

Well, it’s official, the Bears are happy being average. Oh, they faked us all out when they fired Lovie Smith and hired that Canadian fellow, Marc Trestman. They must not be okay with just competing, they want to have an offense that can win things! Or so we all thought. And then came the end of the the 2013 season and the expiration of Jay Cutler‘s contract.…The post Chicago...

DE Lamarr Houston's contract situation remains unclear despite assurances from Raiders

Free agency is more than two months away, but DE Lamarr Houston’s contract status continues to be unclear. There is a gap in how the team placed a value on Houston and his perception on what he should be paid. And a deal would’ve been completed by now if the numbers matched, however, Houston is a player the Raiders would like to keep and he wants to remain a Raider.

Bears, Emery want McCown back

Jay Cutler's new seven-year contract will not prevent the Chicago Bears from attempting to re-sign veteran unrestricted free agent quarterback Josh McCown, team general manager Phil Emery confirmed Thursday. Because the team inked McCown to a one-year contract with the veteran league minimum last March, the Bears cannot officially sign the quarterback to a new deal until the...

Bears mum on Julius Peppers' future

The Chicago Bears appear to be noncommittal regarding the future of defensive end Julius Peppers, who led the team with 7.5 sacks in 2013, but didn’t perform at his typically dominant clip. Set to count $18.183 million against the team’s cap in 2013, Peppers could be asked to restructure his deal to clear some space. But it’s worth noting that prior to announcing deals Thursday...

Jay Cutler’s New Contract is Ridiculous

What a stupid contract. Are you kidding me? Okay, that may be a harsh way to start this piece, but I was absolutely stunned when I heard that Jay Cutler had signed a seven-year contract with the Chicago Bears worth upwards of $17.6 million a year with at least $50 million guaranteed. Even the biggest Jay Cutler fan would look at a deal like that and think it was at least a bit of...

Coach responds, Vikings players defend him after accusation by ex-punter Kluwe

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Chris Kluwe made his bold declaration. The Minnesota Vikings are now having their say against their former punter. Kluwe, who was out of the NFL this season after being released by Minnesota in May and the Raiders before the season started, blasted Vikings special teams coordinator Mike Priefer, coach Leslie Frazier and general manager Rick Spielman in a scathing...

Jay Cutler’s Contract, NFL Playoff Predictions, 10 minutes of heartbreak, and UCF being Golden

The last 7 days of football have been sheer insanity. On the latest Rob’s Midday Quickie I dish about the Bears signing Jay Cutler to a 7 year contract, my picks for the NFL Playoffs, how my heart was broken twice in about 10 minutes on Sunday with the Chargers and Bears endings, and give some dap to UCF for winning the Fiesta Bowl and showing Baylor what’s up. I also want to...

Oakland Raiders: Three New Year's Resolutions For 2014

What in the name of George Blanda is going on in Oakland. It's like the ghost of Blanda and Al Davis are firmly clouding the O.co Stadium and the Black Hole is more of a black pot hole, doing little to give this etam support or finding a reason why the Raiders, a team so steeped in tradition, is one of the laughstocks of the NFL.Davis might be turning over a few times in his...

Bears and QB Jay Cutler agree on seven year deal, averages $18 million for first three years

According to Michael David Smith of Profootballtalk.com, the Chicago Bears and quarterback Jay Cutler have come to terms on a seven-year contract that will keep him in the Windy City for the foreseeable future. There was speculation Cutler would not return to the team, but with him in the fold the team now has the option of using their franchise tag for another player.

On Friday morning, the National Football League announced the players who made this year’s All-Pro teams. The Raiders had a lone soul earn the honor. When the guys around the NFL were announced, fullback Marcel Reece was the only man from Oakland selected to the league’s list of the highest honor. Reece finished the season with 46 carries for 218 yards and two touchdowns. He...

A response to Chris Kluwe’s Deadspin article

Chris Kluwe, a former NFL punter who spent the preseason with the Oakland Raiders challenging Marquette King for the punter position, published an article this week stating that the Minnesota Vikings dismissed him from the team because of his personal stance on same sex marriage. The allegations he spoke of in his article on Deadspin were very serious and complete with a diary of...

Chris Kluwe Is Having Trouble Dealing With "The End"

For some players in the National Football League, "The End" can be a scary thing. Anybody who is fortunate enough to have a career that lasts more than a couple seasons has known nothing outside of the gridiron their entire life, but once "The End" hits, they have to make the adjustment that football is no longer part of it.Some players deal with "The End...
