The Raiders traded a 1st and a 2nd round pick to Cincinnati last year for Carson Palmer and then signed Matt Leinart to be his backup, but don’t try to tell Terrelle Pryor that. Pryor today was quoted as saying that he “isn’t planning” on being a backup. It’s unclear whether he’s just saying that to sound competitive or if he’s completely delusional, but he did acknowledge in that interview that Carson Palmer is the starter so maybe it’s the former. Pryor will enter the season as the Raiders’ #3 quarterback. There has been some talk this offseason of him playing different positions like tight end, wide receiver, and/or wildcat. Barring major injuries at the quarterback position, his best bet to get onto the field this year is probably going to be at another position, if at all. Pryor was highly thought of by Al Davis, who used a 3rd round compensatory pick on him last offseason, but when Davis passed away last October, Pryor lost his biggest and possibly only supporter. Most of the ...

Pryor not planning to be a backup

Terrelle Pryor is not content merely being a backup quarterback for the Raiders. He says he has plans to do much more.

Raiders expected to give Rolando McClain another year

Rolando McClain is facing 6 months in jail for assault with a deadly weapon, though he is appealing the sentence. He’ll begin his jail time when the appeal is over and there’s a strong possibility that he misses games because of this. He could also be given a suspension from the commissioner on top of that. However, the Raiders themselves will not be handing down any punishment...

Oakland Raiders Terrelle Pryor not planning on being the backup

Second-year Oakland Raiders QB Terrelle Pryor is not heading into the 2012 NFL season planning on being the back up quarterback. Speaking to Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times, the former Ohio State quarterback says he doesn’t look at himself as the backup to Carson Palmer and wants to make the most of any opportunity to become the team’s starting signal caller. “Carson...

Raiders' McClain participating in OTAs

Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain was on the field with teammates during Monday's organized team activities. McClain was convicted of assault Thursday in Decatur, Ala., but has appealed the ruling. He could be punished as part of the NFL's off-field conduct policy, but the league is likely to allow the legal process to run its course first. McClain is also facing a civil...

Rolando McClain participates in OTA’s as he appeals his prison sentence

Despite the fact that Oakland Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain was sentenced to 180 days in jail just last week, he showed up for this week’s OTA’s, according to Jerry McDonald of the Contra Costa Times. The reason McClain was able to participate in this in the Raiders’ OTA’s is because he’s currently appealing his prison sentence. The Raiders released the following...

Oakland Raiders Fantasy Football Projections

QB Carson Palmer (Oakland) Excluding the Kansas City game, where he was still getting into the flow of things and wasn’t even supposed to play, Palmer played 9 games last year. He threw for 2637 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. Over 16 games, that’s 4688 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions. Some think he could improve on those numbers as he has another year...

Oakland Raiders WR Juron Criner building relationship with QB Carson Palmer

Last month the Oakland Raiders selected wide receiver Juron Criner in the fifth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Since then, Criner has been impressive in both the Raiders rookie mini–camp and the offseason team activities. Carson Palmer has noticed and is advising Criner along the way. After the OTAs this week, Criner spoke about the relationship he and Palmer have developed and...

Oakland Raiders QB Carson Palmer Adapting to Offense and Personnel

When the Oakland Raiders traded for Carson Palmer last year, they did so with the belief he was a top echelon starter. Now that he has a full offseason to study the offense, he is getting more comfortable. “Just getting a chance to know the playbook and get really comfortable with the playbook,” Palmer said of the importance a full offseason. “Getting used to the new personnel...
